4 Traktor Decks + 4 Line decks (could maybe be used as standalone mixer) It's got a button with Traktor logo under each gain knob. Could be for switching source? so that 8 channel as in S8.

Some damage control happening? The other thread has been deleted ...
Woah.
So long as Google still has the cache, it's kind of a waste of time to quash individual forums, innit?
Nah, just the exact same posts word-for-word in 2 threads is not how the forum works. Standard.
See above.
One thread will suffice, it is forum rules.
If the powers that be deem that the leak should not be up then it will be removed.
Fair enough, but this being a thread that was hijacked for it, it seems like the wrong place to delete it.
If you read the first post of this thread it is in regards to the supposed Kontrol S8.
This is the original thread and therefore remains. All others will be deleted.

And now we wait for the software update. ;)
If that's a real cache... that is a beautiful lookin controller!!!
Looks pretty good. Still only two FX banks though which sucks, but no jogs which kind of makes up for it.
Looks amazing, I'm hoping for a single deck version of these down the track, still like using my AHXONE92

Edit: Aw, sorry, mods. I didn't see the posts in the other topic.
Delete if necessary, my apologies.
The S8 looks absolutely awesome.
The price though....wow! But I bet it's gonna be worth it.
Im glad NI has understood their market and removed the jog wheels. I dont think ive ever seen a controller DJ ever touch them.
So its the middle of the S4, with an F1 bolted to each side, and a touchstrip instead of jogs.
Looks like fun.
Freeze button??
What do you guys think?

Took me a while to read that other thread, I'm guessing people already knew?
Yah. It leaked on gearslutz 3 odd days ago.
Theres been a couple of threads already closed on it.
Pretty cool . I wish I could afford one.
Interested to see how that will mapped if so. Possibly needs some revamping of the layout to accommodate it.
I just noticed that it comes with Traktor Scratch Pro 2 not 3 ?
A few observations:
There's a tempo knob/encoder. I assume it controls the global tempo. I wonder if that can be assigned to each deck as well.
No loop recorder functionality - is this being removed from the software?
Booth out!!!
Seems like the whole cross/line fader section is replaceable.
No glossy, finger print attracting, mixer section.
Random buttons below the gain knobs. Sure these used to assign fx bank 1 or 2 but that is controlled by a separate function on this controller.
Filter knob now has an assign button - didn't it used to turn on by simply twisting the filter knob?
No loop screen
Another few observations ...
- Mic 1 & 2 - proper hardware inputs? I'm guessing volume/gain is on the back?
- regarding removable (?) fader section ... Anyone for rotary kit?
- "ON" buttons between remix faders and knobs might be for channel on and not filter (like the bottom row on F1) ... And the apparent filter knobs are endless encoders so probably do more than just filter (other effect parameter adjust, and if anything like Maschine Studio could be touch sensitive?)
- global tempo ... That one is a bit interesting, not something I noticed up front but maybe it is focused on the Master, be it up top global or the Master deck tempo.
- looping - possibly the large knob to the left/right of the short remix faders - and there's a number 4 in a circle on each screen that might indicate loop length?
- the left deck screen actually shows plenty of info from Deck A as well as a small bit of info from what looks to be Deck C at the bottom. Showing the info from all 4 decks at once would be great.
- freeze ... Interesting ... That's all I can say about it, it's not something I've used on the iOS version and can't see myself using it ... Good spot for a custom modifier button for extra mapping :D
Quietly excited about this ... Gonna have to sell off the S4mk2 though first!
Good insight on those predicitons couldn't have been more spot on if you tried ! ^^^
Looks like ill be jumping ship to serato tbh, if traktor does move more into the world of Producer-Djing such as using samble banks and remix decks type of things. Being a purely DVS user it seems less and less logical to stay with traktor tbh.
I think the looping will be either be done on the touch strip or with the 8 pads being set to a predefined loop size. EG button 1 = 1/32, button 2 = 1/16 etc etc. Great spot with the number 4 in a circle on the screen. I reckon you are right about that.
I would hope that you aren't right about the filter being an encoder. I really don't think that works well. A pot definitely works better for a filter function.
Freeze on Traktor DJ works by setting an 8 bar loop and each of the 8 'notes' becomes triggerable. I can see this working well with the 8 pads. great for chopping up the loop a la serato slicer style.
I wonder how (or even if) they will work the super slicer function in Traktor DJ into this controller.
But the DECK button... Only ONE per each side.
Hmmm.. That's exactly how I handle the "Double Deck Focus" feature in my Traktor mappings. Allows user to pick any deck from both of the Focuses (sides of the controller) solving the issue with A/C and B/D deck switching which is current industry standard.
I can see how it could got to go with number 8 :w00t:
If this is going to be the official S8 leak thread can the mods change the title so people know that it is? That way people wont keep posting the leak in different threads.
The filter knobs look like the regular detented ones of the s4.
I would say the white buttons: hotcue/loop/freeze/remix change the behavior of the 8 pads - they are probably shift buttons for certain things too. in traktor, the 'saved' loops are considered hotcues, which makes me think that the 'loop' is like serato's roll with different measures like 1/16, 1/8 etc.
with flux it would become slip roll.
in remix mode, it looks like the capture button is a shift button + pad like on the f1 to pick which pad captures the sound. the encoder below 'capture' is likely a way to scroll down on the remix decks, but maybe capture + encoder will give you set measures to capture - 1 bar, 2 bar, 4 bar etc..
i would imagine that capture + browse will let you select which source to capture from - deck a, b, c, d or master.
the filter button is definitely filter on/off.
the interesting buttons are the 8 ones around the screen. the top right one looks like it changes the display mode. the top left must be some kind of settings window (maybe screen settings like brightness etc). the 4 unmarked ones probably do functions to do with remix deck options: keylock/fx/monitor/punch - or the captured loop settings: oneshot/loop/etc.
curious what they would do on a standard track deck, maybe change the beat grid.
really not sure about the < > buttons at the bottom of the screen - maybe they skip back/forward and are used for beat gridding too.
I cant imagine there would be a lot of crossover between those who want an S8 and those who want a rotary mixer.
Rotaries tend to be used by house DJs for long blends and EQ work. Most of them arent going to be looking at using a sync based controller as their mixer.
But I hope you get your rotary panel!
look at the buttoms below the gain knobs. Those are the same as on the Z2 which toggle "TRAKTOR mode / standalone mixer mode" which means we have a 4channel standalone mixer in it.
On the other hand the amazon copy says it comes with Traktor Scratch Pro 2 which would mean it is DVS ready without any kind of paid upgrade / expansion. But might also be a typo of amazon...
Personally finding it very difficult to pick holes at the S8, really looks like they've listened to user gripes. Aesthetically I'm so so pleased to see the god awful glossy surface go.
Looking forward to finding out how they've implemented the the endless encoders below the screens, with capture and edit buttons jus beside them you'd imagine the encoders handle all the remix editing needs, with slot filters being there initial use.
Purely speculation but I recon the encoder beside the rmx deck faders will have the same feature set like the loop encoders on any other NI gear and maybe rmx deck page up/down to. With those lovely screens I'm personally not fussed to see the loop display go, I'm sure those screens will display loop details anyway.
If Maschine integration (in some form) really is coming then it makes sense to drop the loop recorder controls as Maschine will hopefully take Traktor sampling up a few notches.
Hmmmmmm, wonder if the S8 will be at BPM?!
Just realised it's got proper Gain knobs like on the Z2 instead of those endless crap things they put on the S4mk1 and again on the mk2! Very happy with this, probably needed due to it being a hardware mixer but whatever, I like it.
Hey Guys,
just look what I found:

What do you think? Fake or real?

So what's the chance the new S8 works with an Ipad?
