surprised no ones asked yet but what style of djing are you into. long smooth mixing, turntablism, or high paced fast mixing minus to the scratchy turntablist stuff? you dont really need high torque excellent turntables for just mixing. 1200s are always nice, but not always entirely necessary.
-
well, he's already blown the cash hahahaha. so.. .its not a big deal any more.
High torque mixers are nice for mixing too. Low flutter.
-
lol god dammit. somehow i always come into a thread way too late like "GET TT500'S AND A DJM400!!!!1!!1INB4TL11!!!.....oh shit nvm guys dead topic.."
-
yeah. he decided he would spend it on sound equipment. If I was buying new I would not buy technics. Like I said a couple pages back, I got my pair for 350, which is pretty unbeatable.
-
hahaha yeah I ended up spending over my budget but I'm really happy with the setup.
I've been playing @ gigs with my midi stuff so I figured the money would be better spent on the sound system and then More money on quality gear.
I ended up using both amps in xover mode: 1 amp, left top and sub. 1 amp, right top and sub. I did daisy chain it to one amp how Sine had suggested and was gonna return one, but I know I'll be upgrading soon anyway so I'll need it.
-
How did the gig go? How was setup and performance?
-
the gig was awesome! wasn't big.. bout 40 ppl. turn out lol
but I always get all amped up when I'm playing.
Setup was a breeze. was at Hotel Zoso here in Palm Springs, CA and it was a smaller party room but everything sounded really good.
I kept the subs close and they sounded Really good :D
the manager wants me playing there again on the 1st for a big event :DD
looks like I'm startin to get called back pretty often, which I'm excited about since these have been my first gigs lol
-
Great. That's good to hear!
small gigs are fine for the first one, cause it gives you the chance to pay attention to your gear.
-
downloading your trance mix right now.. its taking Forever! lol i live like right on the edge of the coverage area
-
hahaha. yeah, I know what you mean. I usually encode at 320 kb/s, but I did it at 192 this time to cut down on file size.
It was alright. Trance isnt super fun to mix... most of the good parts are in the songs already, so the main job of the dj is to build a good program of material... and make sure transitions are tight.
Electro/breaks/dubstep are much more fun to mix, but I've had a soft spot for uplifting trance since I got into electronic dance music, and I cant shake it.
