how do you do that? virtual mac/windows machine?

to those asking check out wine and wine asio....although to me it makes sense to use a stripped down windows install for audio/djing and then dual boot linux for everything else.
I rarely if ever have issues with custom windows installs, i would wager a bet on stability vs a mac running audio programs..when windows is exposed to the internet is when u start losing stability.
But i am fine letting u macheads having ur fun with this thread :)
I will say apple and windows are devils to the concept of open source
the wine app database says its not working...so what else is there?
im not sure where u're reading that but wine works. I personally use it for running reaper in linux.
What disto are u using
yeah, wine itself does work. but running traktor in wine doesnt seem to work. here's the link: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...ation&iId=8727
There is an app i found called Crossover.
Its based on WinE and allows you to install Windows apps etc.
Games or whatever.
Does not use Virtual Machines....uses much less resources apparently.
I been mucking about with it....but not MUCH success yet.
I just wanna play a GAME!!
well, no, i guess if you read what you quoted me on, i'm a gambler too :D
i don't think it's crack-wild to suggest a stability bet between a mac and a pc running an nlited, striped down install of XP on a comparable hardware for audio use only. i say audio use only cause i personally don't think its fair to compare the two when the internet is involved. windows appears to constantly shown to have internet security flaws, and macheads, take alot of joy pointing them out, but to be fair 99% the hacker/spywear/trojans/viruses/etc are being written for windows because it dominates the market share (like over 90%?). flip the script, and i think you find that there are flaws to be abused on the mac side too. In a security test against, a vista, a macbook, and a pc running ubuntu, only the ubuntu one remained guarded.
again for the record, I am not a windows fan, not at all. when i'm not using programs that require windows its linux for me.
