I don't know about you guys, but I cant even count how many times people would ask me to play a song that was already playing as they were asking me!!

I didnt realise dubstep was such a bitch for DJs.... why so?
(n00b here, still waiting on a oportinuity to play live)
"play some classical"
often, DJs who don't spin dubstep, really have hardly any knowledge of it, it's really quite a niche genre where the few who spin it,really know their stuff, I have lots of buddies who spin dubstep, but if you asked me to name more than 3 dubstep artists I'd have a hard time, and an even harder time naming more than 3 dubstep songs. So when someone asks for dubstep, it's not like top 40 or hip-hop where no matter where you go, you hear songs form that genre. It's very difficult to not be a primarily dubstep DJ and spin dubstep IMO.
hence why it bothers lots of DJs who don't spin it, because it's such a specialty, that asking someone who doesn't spin dubstep, or who is spinning top 40 currently, is almost such an outlandish request.
Oh if only. sigh :(
Around here dubstep is part of your staple club music, along with house and top 40. And seriously, I've been to enough pure dubstep nights and I can safely they the standard of DJing is by far the lowest on average in comparison to any of the other genres I have frequented.
seriously eh? I guess dubstep is much more mainstream in the U.K. than over here in Canada, it's still in the early underground stages, although lately there have been some massive dubstep concerts by the mains like Skrillex and Zeds Dead, so I presume it will eventually head that way.
And apart from all that discussion, dubstep ist just horrible music....*scnr*
sick of chavvy mugs asking me if they can MC, i just reply "probably not" and turn around
