Hi, first of all AMAZING setup i currently have the Xone92 fader model and i am also thinking about getting the empath rotary just to get that rotary feel and have the best of both world. The thing that i am concern is that as the empath rotary is discontinued would i be able to get parts (specially de channel faders) if they get broken?. Also could you please elaborate on those rotary knobs you put on your x1 will love some of those for my setup. Anyways thanks for showing this art you call setup!

The RMX is a great unit. I've had plenty of experience with many effect units...and from Pioneer the EFX500/1000 series. The RMX is a completely different beast IMHO. To be real, I am not really big on effects. I am one of those "use sparingly", kind of like salt or hot sauce. Too much and you ruin the balance. To be honest, I really did not need the RMX's...considering how much the X1 (with my current mapping) does for me already. Overkill isn't a word I use when feeling the need to purchase new equipment! I actually still use the X1 in my sets very much so. The RMX is a beast of a machine, and alot of what is done cannot be replicated on a midi unit with my current setup. I love the isolators, the ability to use software/SD to modify and tweak the sound, as well as the overall layout of the unit. The hardest part of setting everything up was the wiring and the stands. Other than that, the units were pretty much plug and play. Again, I've had a ton of setups, ATM (and probably forever) I couldn't be happier with this setup.
I've only put my hands on them a couple times... so very limited experience and was wondering how you use them. I don't use effects too much (like your seasonings metaphor), but am still curious.
Np blatterjr, there are many midi, effect controllers out now, almost too many to pick from. I like the hardware approach of the RMX unit, even though it is midi capable. I really only use the unit on buildups and breakdowns of songs/transitions. I have to say, most DJ's probably use this approach for the most part. The RMX actually has a buildup/breakdown section. It is actually pretty ingenious I have to say. Mixing out of breakdowns and buildups is extremely satisfying. I use alot of the quarter/half tempo delays and echoes along with some subtle flange/distortion type effects. There are alot of great combinations of effects to link together. And the best part is the release lever. It resets all your values and brings you back to the mix, unaffected. Like pure mixing/blending...effects are really an art in their own way. I feel it's about finding what feels and fits right, and then creating-perfecting.
