When do you guys think ni will announce mid October?

I'm curious too, I would have expected during BPM but that didn't happen. The leaks were before the show. I expect to be very soon with amazon already having the details.

From conversations I've had with retailers the S8 is all but confirmed, NI has been briefing them etc ready for launch. As NI never has a stand at BPM u didn't expect anything then but I'm sure it won't be long the s4 mk2 is already coming down in price which is also a giveaway when it comes to NI

Actually the more I've thought about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they left the s4 mk2 in the line up. For those not interested in touch strip mixing. I don't think the s4 is going anywhere for awhile. Native instruments hasn't even released a teaser video yet that doesn't actually show the product. I'm expecting that's soon, even though we already know what it looks like. I'm expecting it to be on the shelves before Christmas.

The s4 mk2 probably will stay in a similar way to the mk2 maschines alongside the studio but always nice to see a price reduction.

Yeah, will make sense to drop the price a bit as it is no longer the flagship model and most of the R&D costs for the S4 Mk1 and Mk2 involved should be well and truly recouped by now.

So the Komplete stuff was recently announced and is due out October 1st. I don't see them releasing details on the S8 until after the first. I know they are different product categories but I don't see them changing the homepage announcement for Komplete until after it's out.

I mean, the current macro FX control is just one knob, I mean you can't get much more intuitive than that.

EDIT: Also, €1149 means £1149. Absofuckinglutely no chance of me dropping that much dollar on NI hardware and I'm a massive NI fanboy. For all intents and purpose, it's got pretty much the same production cost as the Maschine Studio, so I have no idea why they can't price it as such. Where does the £400 mark up come from?!

I hope it has jog wheels, i can't imagine DJ'ing without them, i wouldn't buy the S8 if it didn't have them.

I can't imagine that NI would leave out jog wheels.

They know they have to cater to every style and genre of DJ'ing, even though some genres are becoming less and less dependent on jogs.

I do hope they go the smart route and do 4x4 pads per deck, but have they figured out how to layout it? That will be interesting.

Youve seen the picture. It doesnt have jog wheels, it has touch strips.

Splitting a Page Selector modifier in to two would do the trick.

Still hoping for single deck platter controllers come from NI I think they would work well either side of these

Took a few goes to get used to it, but the X1 Mk2's touch strip more or less renders jog-wheels redundant. Personally, I'd rather have a X2 or similar big brother to the X1, particularly for those of us who don't really need the mixer sections of the S2 or S4 if we're using a club or pub or home mixer in conjunction with something like the Audio 2 DJ, with some extra features like a proper pitch fader instead of the substandard method of holding the SYNC button and turning the encoder as is the current case. Matter of fact, I'm in the process of designing and building my own controller to add the missing functions that I want instead of waiting for NI to do it.

i appreciate the idea but like, executing this with spontaneity isn't gonna be easy at all.

It's honestly not that hard to do it on the spot if you DON'T use the remix decks.

play one song, loop another, skip ahead to the break/vocal of a third and chop it up.

I use 4 regular decks and find I can sample live and remix pretty easily.

I feel using the remix decks causes too much prep time for me.

yeas, with 4 regular decks i know its easier. but the new s8 has the f1 pads for the remix decks, which is what I'm referring to.
the only non house Dj I know from traktor that even uses sampling is Shifteee and they're are always pre ready stuff.
LIke, are we gonna see big room or commercial EDM dis using the remix deck effectively? not too sure

I doubt you will see big room EDM DJs playing on these. They're too busy moving knobs on unplugged DJM900s and pusing buttons on unplugged CDJs.

Big Techno and House DJs will def use this though.

Luciano Squillace Carl Craig were there bigging it up and calling it game changer but in reality none of them will use the S8 as there everyday workhorse, when someone updates the Xone92 then that's a game changer, great software but still think an exsternal mixer will still rule.

There probably wouldn't be much to give away that feature on the controller, it'd be very heavily software side. Traktor Pro 3 may still have it, who knows.

Well, chuck all the screens on it you want. If there's a laptop there, it'll still be looked at.

All i can see when looking at something like this is ''The next feature that's already available in some guise that we can build into it''
If you've bought anything other from NI i the hardware world (Maschine/F1/X1 etc) in the past few years then you'll be able to do everything this does and more anyway.

Im predicting the most backing we'll see from any DJ (and i use the term lightly) will be Paris F*****g hilton making a mess with it at Amnesia, and maybe someone doing a routine with it to sell it.

But on the other hand, there aren't really a lot of really BIG DJ's using all-in-one controllers as it is anyway.
They're on CDJ's, X1's+mixer or some other weird setup.

Come on NI, launch this, then launch some more modular stuff next spring.

I agree with everything above, I've yet to see any of my favorite techno house DJs who use Traktor use any of the all in one solutions. Cut either side of the s8 off and get rid of the mixer section and I'd think about getting it.

NI will release this and update the X1 to mk3 with screens in 6months time or if that.

Defo waiting for new single/dual deck controller, I'll never get rid of my Xone92

What exactly is there to update, other than the odd tweak?

I for one would love an Xone 93 with an at least 12-channel soundcard. Looks of the DB4 but without FX and with the added return channels.

DB92 is what I think it should be called, exact layout of a 92 but with a 12 channel in/12 channel out sound card so that you can run 4 Traktor/CDJ/TT decks and the Mic/Return channels also have their own computer input for FX/Ableton/Maschine channels. Both AUX outs also send to the computer ...

There are very few mixers that I would gladly retire my 92 for ... but this would be one of them :thumbup:

Perhaps a tweak to the EQ knob spacing and more midi control.
