The main difference will between this and everyother tablet/netbook out there is software, there is two camps on apples software which as we all know is either love or hate relationship.
I was a little dissapointed that there were no suprises here but I will still be picking one up as a replacement to taking my macbook to work everyday.
That bezle irks me, its also exagerated by the thin silver border - they should have kept it black!
The potential for this as an extra controller is awesome, i hope jazzmutant give up on the hardware side of things and start selling a port for the ipad.
Anyone know who developed the CPU and what kind of specifications it boasts?, isn't it ARM?
its ARM .. 1 ghz. design by p.a. semiconductor guys that were bought up by apple a while back. so essentially its an apple custom chip design based on ARM ... fabbed by someone for them.
Fantastic! All i need now is some hammer pants to fit it in.
I was quite disappointed with this, No camera....? i mean come on....
Damn. I was never gonna pick this up, I was hoping for new iPhone firmware.
The way I see it is that Apple is more so just using this as a connect the dot. Apple only entered the cell phone market when it could offer the best mobile experience. They didn't just jump in with a flip phone with an apple logo on it. They definitely wait till they can offer something huge. For now this is why you aren't seeing touch screen Mac computers. Apple is using the iPhone and iPad as bridges to something bigger. Clearly the iPhone is a huge success. The iPad is just another way of consumers to become accustomed to using a touch interface. I expect their next big thing will be touch Macs depending on how the iPad sales go
Some kind of configurable midi/osc controller with visual feedback has potential. It is essentially at $500 lemur.
