Yeah I guess it just came off kinda odd the statement that if it's a official photographer it's ok... That line kinda makes me scratch my head if anything that's be more of a distraction but meh everyone different
I'm 5'4" and 140lbs and there ain't no-one in my booth I don't want there - EVER. :glare:
I've even asked/told club managers to leave the booth before if they are getting on my nerves and getting in my way which is usually their worst trait - they simply get too close and don't seem to realised a DJ likes breathing room.
I don't understand why people have hangers-on in the booth. I see all these Ibiza videos of DJ's like Hawtin with loads of daft women lolloping around trying look like they don't give a shit and gormless blokes off their tits just wandering around bumping into each other.
A few mate DJ's, crew, very close friends I get. Wannabes - nah.
What up fellow short guy! I'm about the same size.
I keep tight control over who is in the booth, only let in friends & DJs/photographers that are working with event staff. I actually have kicked friends out from behind the booth before... probably not necessary but if people are talking to me all night I am not going to DJ as well.
I don't care about people aping my tracks or criticizing my play style, I just don't want any distractions! Gotta focus on doing that thing you're there to do :)
6"4 280 not many people feel the need to stick around when I ask them to leave.... Lol
Oh I wish I didn't lol
Sorry for replying so late.. very busy and had to upgrade the laptop after updating Traktor (Slow piece of crap HP. So I bought a MSI Gt60). Thanks for the laughs guys lol.
I'm not worried about people looking at what songs I'm mixing. It's the people that have that jealous p'd off look on their face giving you the prison rape stare while breathing heavy and then bombard you with a thousand questions or down your set. I honestly don't see the point of anybody being in the booth other than the dj. You can interact with me on the dance floor. Friends, family, and security I'm perfectly fine with. Something about having strangers in total destruction distance of my thousands of dollars worth of equipment puts me on edge. Not only that but I'm too busy and focused into my set to even push someone away let alone talk to them. Sure, if I'm at a house party or chill bar doing basic transitions where I have time during songs to screw around it's not a bother but most of the time it's very technical and I need no distractions.
I have fun but I like to put on a real show and open up people to true controllerism and not these jokes that call themselves djs and ruin the fine folk like on this site's reputation by sitting down and touching absolutely nothing and shouting on the mic trying to hype and promote themselves. I do take that seriously because it's ruining the image of what we really do and how much work is put in. And yes I've gotten a lot of my songs if not all of them stolen online and from mix cds. It really sucks when they have a bigger name than you and you try and contest it and people are like" I've never heard of you fool, you did not make that." Sorry but I have the raw files right here you fake. Depressing indeed. But I mean when they've stolen a set by watching me from behind. My cue points, effects line up, loops, samples, etc. Believe it or not someone has done that to me before and lifted their local rep greatly from it even though it sounded a lot sloppier than when I did it. I guess most of you don't understand because you're probably in a big city where all of this is common and the audience is knowledgeable in the modern music world but I live in a close-minded redneck filled area where it's extremely difficult to please them without sensory overload so if I find something that works you bet your ass I'll make sure nobody steals it. I feel like an astronaut in a group of cavemen.
