Here's the beginnings of my first setup. Essentially took a small portable bar and AV stand I had around, went to a local Home Improvement\Countertop fabricator and bought an $8 scrap of countertop and some L brackets and made this.

I attached it at an angle and height that felt perfect to me

While building the thing this past Saturday I had one side attached and the other resting on the little shelf bracket nubs (so I could play with different angles to see what worked). That side started to fall, and while I caught it my VCI-100 slid off and landed smack dab on the bottom of my toe, squished it like a freaking tomato and I'm still dragging my foot around like Igor. It, of course, was completely unscathed.
Call me DJ NineToes...
With everything I already had my total cost of entry was ~$160 for the VCI-100, $8 for the countertop, and ~$3 for a USB sound card for cueing, pretty slick setup for near nothing.
