Scrolling Waveforms?

So with the CDJ-2000 Nexus release, I've noticed a bizarre amount of people amped up about the scrolling waveforms, and in the past, I've noticed a ton of comments about wanting scrolling, multicolour waveforms.

I've been DJing for several years, starting on a lowly VDJ setup, moving through Traktor, and I now use a pair of CDJ-2000s, and while the spectrum colours were slightly useful, I've never really understood the point of scrolling waveforms!

My question is why the Hell are they such a hot topic? They're completely useless, unless you happen to be deaf! I really can't fathom a situation where I would want to see exactly what I can already hear...

Good to see when the breakdown or drops are, but yeah i agree you should know your tunes better either way,

At least on Traktor you can zoom in and out, are the CDJs only two levels of zoom (all the way in or the whole track?)

I'm not talking about the track waveform, that's always been fairly useful, bit the big bright scrolling ones that show you the beat zoomed in. You can already see the track's structure with a track waveform.

It's handy for seeing what's happening during scratching, I guess.
Not seeing the scrolling waveform when I moved from Traktor to CDJ2000's didn't make me lose sleep.

Right now we just see a scrolling waveform, not two waveforms next to each other like in Serato. I don't understand the fuzz either..

It's an extra feature! Granted not as useful and Link, Quantinization or Slip mode but it'll make a hell of a difference if you scratch

Now that you can do beatgriding and finetuning to your rekordbox liberary on the CDJ screen they are handy because you can be more acurate. I whish that the computer version of rekordbox would have them to, it has them but I mean like the once ont the CDJ display. I also only use the scrolling waveforms in traktor for beatgriding.

I like it for easier beatgridding.

will the CDJ2000nxs show the scrolling waveforms from Traktor and Serato or only from Recordbox......

Its just Pioneer copying the competition I guess. Its good for seeing where your loops and scratch cues are at etc.

But if you are trying to scratch on cdj2000 you really are a bit of a clown so that doesnt apply.

Yeah I use it in Traktor to get my beat grids on the correct part of the sample.

I actually want need an even more detailed view in Traktor. It's accurate in most cases though.

Just to clarify I believe OP is talking about the waveform moving from right to left, not being able to zoom in on the waveform
