dont take this the wrong way, but these are two completely different systems.
go read up on the torq-dj and then scratch live forums then come back and ask specifics.
ive ben watching torq forums now for a while and even with the paid update it seems people on there are still psst off witht he system.
if you want auto sync go with traktor if not go for ssl.
Don't rule out Mixvibes Pro, or Mixvibes Cross...
As said above..I think the big two DVS systems are Serato and next in line is Traktor Scratch...I would seriously give traktor scratch a good thought.
Well actually if Natives instruments claim that they have gotten rid of sticker slipping are true (which to my best knowledge Serato still has hasnt) - id say Traktor is the better of the two DVS systems - this is taking it from a purely digital vinyl perspective without factoring in any other features within the program. Thats not to say Serato sucks either, the competition is pretty tight.
One problem though is the keylocking system isnt working right at the moment and the fix is due in the 1.3 update.
Good point..I would definitely say Serato has also got an insane marketing team....Its everywhere..Atleast in North America
I used to have SSL, sold it for Traktor Scratch and was a good move.
Traktor Scratch system: 4 stereo outs / SSL has 2. SSL has only 2 decks, TPro 4.
Traktor has FX , SSL none..Traktor customizable/ SSL not. Traktor Audio 8 can be ASIO on Mac or PC. ..man the list goes on. SSL is good for simple hip hop setups who like to scratch..and that is Serato's main thing..Traktor Pro 1.03 should be killer.
Serato has that live feed - personally i am jelous :p Not enough to make me go Serato but its still cool - i could see how it could be enough for some people to use Serato instead of Traktor.
Yeah, I have to say, that feature was really tempting to get me to throw Serato on my old laptop and figure out how to transfer audio between them at the same time.
I tried the Livefeed and cool idea, but for me Traktor is the best DJ program. I mean if big names such as Carl Cox and Ritchie Hawtin swear by it and trust it in front of thousands, so it must be good stuff...Serato is stable and minimal and works and very popular.
I think it depends on the type of music you play too.. I think Serato is more geared to hip hop.
I never let "who is using it" ever influence my purchases- for me it comes purely down to functionality which only the individual who plans to use the software can make that decision.
Lots of people say Serato is geared for hip hop but i really do disagree there too ! Serato is geared for mixing all sorts of genres not just hip hop.
yeah, keep in mind that those big name DJs are getting paid good money, and being given lots of free stuff (and probably have more stable software versions and actual access to tech support) than the rest of us. Not exactly a truly neutral opinion.
I do not think they are paid big money, they just play with what they like.
Ritchie was on FS,then Serato , then Live and now Traktor...what is next and cool, he would switch.
He is not playing out on Traktor Pro, so he has no real contract I think or he would have to be promoting the one they are selling now.
i use ssl and mostly mix. why? because its paid for, works on my powerbook g4 and i turn it on and it just works. that lets me just play. but at the same time i have huge respect for anyone who can lay down a phat beat however they do it. to each their own so try out alot then make your decision...good luck cause it only gets harder every day with all the cool stuff that is out.
I have some questions about Traktor Scratch 1.03...Ill start a new thread? Dont want to hijack
