damn US isn't far behind.
so this is censorship requests from the govt, correct?
yeah the daily mirror wrote that those request where about cencorship, deleting blog text´s and shit like this.
As always at the front in the mean things... :(
part of it may be censorship... part of it is probably more necessary.
Does "Government Agency" also include, or be on behalf of, the Police, Social Services, Educational Institutions ?
They could be websites, blogs that endorse or glorify terrorism, child pornography, bullying or ultra-right wing racist & homophobic views, all of which maybe reported by a Govt Agency.
Then again some could just be plain old Censorship .
Best to keep an open mind though.
no offense to anyone living in the UK, but it's hard to believe they only had 50-something requests. through my studies it seems that they are one of the most oppressive gov'ts as far as civil liberties are concerned. i can't really say anything since i've never been there, let alone live there, just my observations. if that count is accurate, i applaud them.
Thats a good old Labour government for you (and tony blair) before them you couldn't show a womans ankle sock on tv without a million complaints hitting the BBC.....
.....now we have midget porn quota to fill on in the newspapers and "how badly infected is my penis?"on channel 5 every fucking night.
Gone are the days of stiff upper lip, tally ho!, tea drinking that alot of people seem to get as the sterotype on american tv.
It's pretty cool really :D
Edit - i still love tea....
China is "missing" from this list... Maybe they asked to be removed from it?!?
Phil.
Trust me you need to do more studies.
There is a lot of freedom of speech in the UK.
In case of Germany is even worse then Brazil and India, we have a lot more of internet content to do Censorship cause of our bigger population then Germany...
China is not on the map because this information is secret for them and google is not allowed to show it, so imagine how much censorship they have there...
The Great Firewall of China > Google.
Yay go Sweden!

Dont be a fucking offensive jerk.
The discussion of piracy has been done to death on these boards.
'Disconnection Without Fair Trial" is completely wrong but the only people that "really" care about this are those that download or facilitate Piracy.
Doesnt the Patriot Act affect Canadians. I think it does. Doesnt it break many of your own Civil Rights? Yes it does.
When did this thread become about the UK...
Lets not have this stupid argument because it doesnt end happily for anyone.
Jesus man. That article start off which a huge mistake and is totally incorrect.
The Lords do not represent the interests of the Public. They are appointed Peers most of which actually work for the Boards of major companies.
The Commons is the elected chamber.
Christ what bloody crap journo rag is it that your getting your information from dude.
Sheeesh-Kebab...!!!
Hahaha, that makes me proper laugh, Kurt Nimmo (replace the R in his first name for an N) has obviously spent loads of time here as he really knows what he is talking about. Just the other day I saw a teenager get beaten by four policemen for dropping his chewing gum on the floor.
When in london the other day I was talking about "the chink in someones armour" on a totally off subject matter our "London CCTV arrangement" honed in and I was taken to a room and had light shinned in my eyes, slapped about abit and had to listen to white noise in a cell for 3 days on my own while I learned the message that RACISM WAS BAD!!!
Give me a break, how do these people get through the day without hurting themselves......
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Lets not let this get out of hand.
I agree 100% that ANY argument is just a waste of your and my time.
There are a lot of Acts on your side and my side of the pond that are junk. I live in a province that hides behind a constitution it refuses to sign! My point is that governments, ALL governments, are very affraid of anything they cannot monitor and control (and by govenment I include those that fund their elections).
For the record, I do not advocate "piracy". I pay for EVERY piece of software and music I own (except, of course, those that are offered for free). In the not so distant past I have had one of my ideas marketed by someone who quite blatantly stole it, so the sting of this bite is known by experience.
It is the intimidation of reprecussions against things like "free wi-fi" that boil my blood. The son shall not be held accountable for acts of his father, and vise versa. I and only I am accountable for my acctions, no blame goes out.
*Puting soap box away*
Karlos, your opinions and views are ones I hold in high regard on this forum. No offence intended.
Phil.
No sweat man... You know how things can come across sometimes.
We are on other sides of the pond but probably on the same side of the fence on these matters.
Its cool man.
yeah i wasn't trying to start any uk hate man..i mean damn i'm pretty sure my ancestors were up in that bitch back in the day.
like you said, i think we're all on the same side here. i mean really whether we like it or not, it's us against them (govt) in a way.
