Kinda cool, but redundant as hell, especially since he mapped the Maschine to do what the S4 and X1's were doing.

Agreed. it seems as though he's attempting to find a purpose for all of his kit. If he had a second Laptop linked via Midi to Ableton and Maschine it would make sense but as it is overkill with the S4.
I want to know more about that laptop >.>
Yea... That was crazy overkill... How can you even get around to using all of that?
I could see using an S4; with the X-1's for FX3&4, and all 8 hot cues, etc.; and using the maschine for MPD, sequenced stuff, etc. that would be great. Maybe a little redundancy to make reaching things quickly easier, but this is kinda silly IMO. Especially having all 3 controlling Fx1&2.
Fact: having more gear makes your dick bigger
Fact: being redundant ups your sperm count
Fact: being redundant makes you balls bigger
Doesn't need that laptop since hes not running traktor s4 :(
My POS could run all that with the new coding.
I'm not sure I get all the hate. Yes, there's some doubled up functionality. But it's mostly doubled up on Maschine, and a LOT of people like using an MPC style controller because the pads are bigger (same goes for arcade buttons). If he's using 4 decks, the 2 X1s make sense as well - that way there's no modality.
He's found a workflow he likes, and it's obviously effective for him.
You call it overkill, I call it a promising beginning :p.

Funny I was talking to someone about this the other day. Here's a pic of Carlo Lio playing at Mansion in Miami. He was opening for Dubfire. This is a huge club on South Beach with big name headliners every weekend. Dude is playing on a Xone: 92 and ONE X1.
I sometimes chuckle at the amount of gear people want to use. I was like that at one point. Now less is more....well less things to mess up at least :D
*note: the kit on the side is Dubfires set up. DJM-800, two X1's and Maschine. One laptop. He also had an Ipad off to the side, not sure what for.
Not hating neMonic.
I'm positive he can DJ circles around me and knows more about Traktor and midi mapping than I probably ever will, so I have much repect for Mr Endo.
I just think he could do alot more with all that lovely equipment. ;)
guys, stop being so negative. i mean, yea it's alot of equipment but, good for him. i'm sure none of you would deny the opportunity to watch him play and I KNOW that you wouldn't deny free equipment like that...besides all of us with the s4, it's kinda overkill when we could just be using the most basic digital mixer...
I'm confused. What was he doing that he couldn't have done with the S4 alone?
endo is the man and that setup is fucking dope.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but who cares what you think? He's working for NI, spinning out regularly in a major city, and teaching at Dubspot. Where's your video showing us how it's done?Quote:

I want to see the video of him walking around NYC, getting off a train carrying all the gear, then walking through a crowded club, making his way to dj booth and trying to set it up or even find room in the booth.
Im not hating, but I agree with the overkill statement. Why did he need the DJM-800? I assume he didnt like the mixer section of the S4 and didnt like the filter of the DJM-800.
I will say the two pieces he didnt need were the Audio8 and the DJM-800...
got bored during the maschine explanation, mainly cos i didn't see any point to rest of kit.
A couple of things. I have the same laptop, well an older version mines about 4 years old, runs perfectly tho. The studio xps are good laptops they are business class ones so generally.
Nemonic who cares who he works for!!! I dont I care how sucsessfull he is I care how good he is. Maybe ur a big jonus brothrs fan!!
He hasnt got the setup layed out in a very logical way. I think its plain for every1 to see. However loads of controllers can be very good especially if you run two normal decks and 8 sample decks.
PS how do you know he works for NI. Did you meet him at stanton. I didnt know NI folks where allowed to talk to stanton. SCS1D that would of been a good controller. SORRY ABOUT THIS WATCHED THE VIDEO YDAY AND COMMENTED TODAY 4GOT BOUT THAT
He said he worked for them in the video.
I understand the want for the extra X1's when using an S4, no need to worry about what decks you currently have selected, and you have instant access to all four FX units. That part makes sense to me.
And he could do what a lot of other DJ's do with the maschine. They have Ableton Running on the same laptop in the background and just have all the audio routed internally. That would make the most sense and that's what I'm looking to do as soon as I scoop up a new controller that I like for Ableton.
Wow, didn't think giving your opinion in a discussion forum would be met with such hostility.
I am very sorry to have pissed you off, as it was not intentional. :)
Never said he wasn't talented, sucessful, etc. and you are right, my opinion doesn't matter.
None of my posts were intended as negative, and I don't think they were. Looking back on all the posts by everyone, only one seems to be a really negative comment, but still, that is that persons opinion, and this is a discussion forum. Just because some one doesn't agree with the set up does not make the comment negative. So the perception of negativity in this thread is a bit overblown in my opinion. If you don't agree that is ok too, as everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.
Also my last comment to you included that I have nothing but respect for Endo, and I was nothing but nice and respectful to you, only to have your barbed comment(the most negative thing in this thread) thrown back at me.
Anyway, I posted the video because I liked all the shiny NI equipment all working together, and thought others would like to see it also. I also gave my opinion of the set up as this is a discussion forum, and we are dicussing the set up in the video.
I appologize profusely if anything I have posted has offended you or anyone else, or is construed as negative.:o
Moronic just likes to argue
I don't think that's an DJM800, looks like a Xone: DB4 to me ! (He's said he loves the DB4) and i only see him playing on Xone's lately.

I bet he's getting hate posts cuz he said the XPS was faster than a mac.
Dems iz fightin' words 'round deez parts!
Endo is such a fucking cunt. I can't even stand to hear the guy talk anymore.
Maybe if he gave some useful information every now and then, but…well…he doesn't.
Yep it's a DB4 :

gross...dell
Haha it looks cool i guess. Dont need the s4 tho. I think he was bored and wanted to do something. And the dell is cool, at least it isnt a mac...but i knw all the mac guys are gonna be hating on that
sorry for the low blow Nem0nic. Maybe just chill out its only ppls opinions
does anybody have those illuminated usb cables? wondering if they are good quality?
i found these: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SKUSearch...iteria=AA76812
Setup was DJM-800 + Audio 8 + TSP 2 + S4 + 2x X1 + Maschine for 4 deck mixing. Thats over kill. Isnt the S4 a all in one package?
A couple of explanations from Endo from the YT page
"The reason why I use the Pioneer with the S4 is because I noticed when using the S4 as a soundcard there is latency. Ex. when the mix sounds "on" in the headphones, its actually "off" in the house system. So what I do is use the S4 to adjust tracks that haven't been beatgridded perfectly, and since all the audio is routed through the pioneer, there is no latency. I know it sounds like a lot of effort just for a few milliseconds of latency but it really makes a difference when I play"
"See my previous comment regarding why I use the S4 with the Pioneer. I much prefer using the Pioneer Mixer because I am not a fan of the "in the box" sound, and there is some latency when using the S4 unfortunately. I think this is something Native Instruments will be improving in the future. I actually use no modifiers in the mapping. They are all MIDI (LED) output commands in my Maschine mapping. "
"This video was made to show that you CAN use all of these controllers together and get them to work flawlessly on a PC. I wouldn't necessarily travel with all of this gear, but if I would I could! I love using every controller for its own thing. S4 for pitch bend and filters, X1 for browsing and hotcues, Maschine for Magic Sync Macro and beatjump & FX. "
So basically what the video is trying to get out is that you can plug all that shit into one computer thats not a mac and it all can run smoothy?
..and not so much about the guy rubbing a good one in to the NI showcase he got going on there?
Looks good to me. Alot of USB wire going around but if someone else is setting it up for yeah why not. Have 1 X1 for each song in the set haha.
