I never use a stand (I want my laptop to be on the side, not between me and the crowd) though I really like this product!
They should make a tiny stand, to put up a Maschine :D
Maschine fits beautifully on the Crane ;)
At work so I can't watch the video though
Not made in China? I'm buying one this week, that vid is awesome...
interesting!
I've got one and LOVE it. Fits right in my laptop bag(caveat:it's for a 17" computer) I get people asking me about it quite a bit. Ordered through DJTT and it got here promptly and worked exactly as advertised.
Makes me wanna buy one. Looks like a good product and I like supporting little manufacturing companies like this.
Would love to have an idea and start something up like that.
Now i see why their so expensive. Good post.
The new ones are made in China. Another company shipping jobs overseas... thanks, Crane!
nvm
I paid $149. I assumed they were made in the USA, since it is plastered all over their website. However, after looking at the box, I noticed it said Made in China.
Personally, I am not happy... and I have emailed them asking for an explanation. In my mind, they are guilty of false advertising.
Their website does indeed still say made in USA, and they sound pretty proud of it. Maybe just the box is made in china? I dno.
it's a solid stand for the Maschine and doesn't bounce much at all. I just got my stand a few weeks ago and still a little reluctant to torque down the clasps tighter than I currently do. Probably won't be an issue for me to tighten them more but i'm just being careful. I doubt there is anything else on the market better than the crane for a maschine stand.
If i was the U.S Consumer agency (don't know the exact name) i would have a big problem with Crane saying they are manufactured in the USA.
Also if i saw this video and was looking for a DJ stand it would push me to spend the extra $$ to buy the Crane. I enjoy knowing my products are well made and support local industry. Even though i am from Ireland i would still support Crane which looks in the video to take pride in the manufacturing process.
But if the manufacturing process has moved to China. MEH just another mass produced product.
Nice video. Now I want one.
Their website says it's the only DJ laptop stand made in the USA http://www.thecranestand.com/
Nevertheless, there are some good products made in China. My iPhone 4, for example.
Don't get me wrong... it is an AMAZING stand. The best you can buy.
I'm just searching for answers, as they boast about it being made in the USA, but the packaging says otherwise. As someone who cares about the economy, I wanna know where my money is going. I would rather pay twice as much if it was made in the USA.
could someone post a photo of the box? I no longer have mine...only a carry case and product booklet. I'd like to write the company for clarification. But I am figuring that actual unit is mfg in US and that other packaging components are from China...hmmm
TYIA
The stand itself does not say where it is made... the only marking is on the box.
I would think that, if the stand was made in the US, that is would say it somewhere... either on the stand or the packaging.

Haha...these are most definitely made in the US. The amount sold wouldnt warrant a shop bigger than the one in the video.
Last time I checked...Crane didn't manufacture cardboard boxes.
And just because China stamps their name on every export doesn't mean every other country will.
That doesn't make any sense. If China didn't make the box, then what did they make? To me, if the box says it is made in China, then the contents are made in China.
From their facebook page:
We make our stand right here in Seattle, WA, utilizing sustainable manufacturing practices and all Pacific Northwest companies for our product, from construction to shipping to feedback from the many local DJs who have adopted the CRANE Stand as part of their music performance.
Also, Crane just started selling to large retailers... I know there are at least 200 Guitar Centers in the US. If each store has 5 in stock, then that is 1,000 pieces. That would warrant them being mass produced, don't you think?
in terms of manufacture 1000 units would be classed as batch production not mass.
waiting for mine to get here from 'frisco this week hopefully :)
mission accomplished ;p
Got confirmation that most of the stands are now made overseas. Only the signature series are made in house.
They will be updating their Facebook and webpage to reflect this.
First, thanks to Brock for bringing this to our attention.
This is a particularly sensitive issue for us as we have always tried to keep everything here in the USA. Unfortunately, the reality of the world we live in is a global economy. That is not to say that we do not produce product here in the USA. In fact, unlike most manufacturers, we still maintain the same level of production here in the USA that we have always.
The Signature Series is still produced here and is available through select stores. This will show you how little interest dealers have in buying USA made product as there are only a few out there that are selling this item. We still employ the same people to make these limited editions.
I agree that our website does need to be changed and will be as soon as we can.
Thanks for taking the time to clarify that.
Didn't realize they struck a deal with GC and other big distributors, thought they were just going through suppliers like djtt....
Makes sense why there manufacturing has changed since that video was probably taken but idk.
i'm thinking about getting a pair of sefour cranes as you can pivot them and alter the hight too. I don't know about the fit with larger controllers compared to the one in the video above. The sefour's are expensive at over £100 each mind. But i'm not sure of the cost of the one's in the video mind
Who cares where its made! Its not as if America is an up and coming country with little Industry!!!! If its quality, its quality!
A lot of people care...
