Just go to a club that plays the same genre as you and give the manager a mixtape and if he likes it you will get booked. Pretty simple stuff
OK better question. Anyone know of any good clubs in the phoenix valley az for EDM?

Joining or forming a group/society can help your chances significantly. If you can offer to put on a whole night for a club they're much more likely to be interested.

If you want to play at clubs, you have a better chance if you are part of the scene. Clubs/promoters want DJ's that know people, understand the crowd, and ultimately can put people inside the club. It takes a little more than just a mix or a good track to get booked. Get out and meet people is the best way of landing gigs.

Patience, which you don't seem to show much of.
At this point I'd work on establishing relationships within the scene. Don't push yourself onto anyone as a producer/dj until you actually have something to show. Spend time at clubs, meet the people into the same kind of music, and get involved!
That way, by the time you are ready, you should already have a good idea who to talk to and where to go to find those gigs.

Think that's right, you maybe wanna go to fast for this ! Abviously, i think any DJ that is on the scene should have A LOT of experience before. I would continue working hard on producing, mixing home, for quite a time, maybe get a larger library of music if needed, and start in bars or lounges.Quote:

Not ALL successful producers out there started out as DJs.. but DJ is a key skill in not online learning how tracks should mix, but also what sounds good and what doesn’t. As a producer myself, I started out as a DJ. I DJed a small irish pub on Thursdays, and I got moved to Saturdays which is a big night, and from there you just meet and connect with people. Wasting your time on a forum is what you shouldn’t be doing. GO OUT. Get off your computer, and meet actual humans.. like everyone else in the world does business. Idk why DJs think its some type of magic. All business is mainly done in person. Or if you don’t want to do that, e-mail a bunch of clubs in your area with your mix and soundcloud… but in all honesty, they just dumb/ignore spam emails.
IF you DON’T want to play other tracks and learn how to be a successful DJ…. Then good luck starting your own complextroelxtrocoeor nights in an abandoned warehouse. It has been done.. but its difficult.
Samples, arrangement, alot of things are out of key, poor chord progression, poor choice of scales and keys, eqing, spacing in your sound... etc etc etc etc etc. Your music just needs ALOT of work my friend. In the end, if you are happy with it, it really doesnt care what we think. If you REALLY feel that you would want to listen to items you yourself produce, go with that feeling, then play them out in several different renditions, that will be the best gauge of where your music is to other peoples tastes.Quote:

Like others have mentionned, get involved locally.
There is nothing worse than a newbie who comes into a scene thinking they are the king and who believe they have everything to offer when locally there's already a lot (or a little, it doesn't matter) going on.
It's imperative to know what's happening, if you run without having a clue, then you'll have no support from anyone and you'll most likely piss off other people in the scene. While such reactions may seem childish, I'd simply consider them human decency; you're planning ahead, GOOD, but be humble and don't rush into something you can't already handle or else you'll be over in a hot minute.
