S4 mkii round the corner?
NI announced the Z1 and theres been leaked pics of X1 mk2
Looks like it!
State side GuitarCenter's website has not updated the price, but Pro Audio Star has reduced it's price to $599. I'm interested to see what the used market price of the S4 drops to. Definitely a great time to buy an S4 :).
Interesting! Reducing their pricing on gear is normally a sure fire give away that something else in that 'line' is on its way. Although saying that I can't remember there being an X1 mk1 price drop?? Suppose that may still happen though given that the mk2 is only potentially a leak and not an official announcement.
I honestly don't expect an s4 mk2 though. But then an all-in-one that integrates Remix Decks would actually be a radically different looking all-in-one.
Holy same-post-every-time-a-price-drop-happens Batman.
Wuddafu. That's a huge ass price cut :| And they're still charging the same for repairs too...
I don't think you'll see S4s drop below 500 still though if they're in decent condition. Any lower and you reach into S2 territory.
This will drop the s2's resell price as well. Now some people who only could afford a used S2 can probably afford a used S4 now. Thus cutting the demand and price for used S2's. This will happen especially if there is a S4 mk2. I think NI knows that people don't wanna buy a new S4 because its been out for so long, and people are afraid that they wont be able to resell and/or they wont have the newest equipment. Im in this boat right now. Was about to close on a used s4 this sunday but not anymore!
Feel bad for people who just bought a new S4.
Standalone AND software controller? :001_wub:
If the new price of the Traktor S2 doesn't drop either then I wouldn't expect the S4 to drop very much either. People aren't going to sell the S4 for less than the value of an S2. The S2 consistently sells for ~300, and I would expect the S4 to sit at 500-550.
leaked vid here
Ahw really expected a leak vid, well i'm curious, certainly gonna buy the MKII if it comes out.
I can sell the S4 and put it towards a decent mixer pretty soon then! :)
Something's afoot, and it ain't 12" :D
All speculation, likely to be a 4 ch controller/mixer/all in one job, not really a surprise I suppose. Also guess Traktor Pro 3 along side it.
I certainly won't be in a rush to spend £££'s, the S4 does what I need it to do and more, as does TP2.
Fortunately I've never had much RGAS, I believe listening and buying new Music as priority over anything else when it comes to DJing - because at the end of the day, that's what people hear, not how it got there.
Stand alone platter controllers is sort of all im interested in... need something i can use my mixer with but also friends can come round and just jam on....
hmmm.... i want motorized faders and knobs
^ This.
I think that a combined Kontrol S4 + Z2 (4?) concept makes the most sense.
Controllers like the newer Pioneer ones are starting to operate fully standalone. NI would be smart to take note of it. A "Z4 with transport controls and jogwheels" would make a heck of a lot of sense to me. Kind of an updated Xone:4D geared towards Traktor.
Good thing.
they heard about CDJ Zero so they cut their price to keep marked share.
Ok they will come out with a new S4 something that has some kind of F1 intergration + the Freeze/slicer think from the TraktorDJ and it will only work with this new Kontroller Freeze4
^amen
I think S4 mk2 that works with traktor DJ
I reckon ipad integration RGB and Probably remix decks will be the big new improvements in the next iteration.
I also reckon we could see individual "decks" to compliment the Z1/F1/X1
Traktor P1 anybody ?
A visual command center or some type of hub for NI's current and/or soon to be released module "k"ontrollers. Preload mappings, library storage, w/ plug and play ability. To me, LED outputs and RGB buttons give the convenience of not having to look at the screen (current market) but also makes room for screen real estate, or the lack there of.
Maybe Traktor DJ is a beta version? Computers are one side of the digital market that is essential and untouched by current manufactures... How's that for speculation!?
I hope they stick to the modular route, come out with Traktor 3, a Z4 mixer and platter controllers.
I'll buy a Z4 and 4 platter controllers thanks
Damn. NI just cost me a couple hundred dollars.
S4 used price will def drop to the s2 used price range seeing as the s2 will go extinct if the z1 becomes a sucess. S4 mkII would probably consist of standalone mixer functionality as many people feel that it was solely missing. Now as to it being launched alongside traktor 3? That's a good question that brings up a whole nother speculation, but more on that later. As towards what else I'd like to see besides standalone capabilities with the s4? Probably more remix deck functions as the original sample decks were for the s4 then they evolved. Umm maybe better build quality, but I doubt that would happen. And most def they'll add some new buttons and funtions on there including a flux mode switch and something for the "super effects". But only time will tell. My biggest thing... bigger jogs or rotating platers would be sick but would kill it cuz of weight and all that jazz... so not everyone can win. O well
id love a Z4, only if you could have 4 decks ( like songs / samples playing ) and then 2 remix decks for a couple F1's or maschine. so all together 6 decks, ( 4 tunrtables , 2 remix decks )
Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, and many others use 4 decks in Traktor + Maschine + External effects, so in theory they are using 6 decks on their mixers (Xone:92)
If you need 6 decks to make music sound good, you're playing some boring ass tunes.
That's the point of multiple decks. To add and subtract multiple sounds to create a new song..
