Had Final Scratch then Serato with Technicss 1210s and Pioneer DJM600 in between this and getting Traktor but never took pics. Sold 1210s cause id had em for years and they were pretty battered and got VCI-100. This was about 2009. I also then discovered DJTT.

I love this thread. I remember that old pic of you from some years back.

I also remember you modding your VCI cus you were trying to convince me to do the same but I would have soldered my eye to a jogwheel or worse. You did a great job.

How you liking the PL-1..? I like it. I want another to go with the MM1 to make a Behringer S4:rolleyes:

Ha, yeah nice one man! I do remember having that chat with you about the arcade mod... I was actually tearing my hear our doing it too tbh :cursing: my missus was like "oh yeah i remember when you did that and you were shouting 'fuuuuu***%^%kkkk"

Initial impression of the PL-1 are very good. I really like having jogs and a real mixer. I haven't tweaked the mapping yet or tried Stewe's which looks v cool but build wise it's decent.

Not 100 % sure how comfortable i'm using just one PL-1 and swapping decks so might get another.. or if the X1 mkii is real, maybe swap it out for a couple of those... dunno yet. I mean am perfectly comfortable just using the x1 on its own but wanted something for my mates to play on too, if they havent got TSP2 just TP2.

I need to use it for a bit and give it a real chance. i couldn't loose the x1 cause the browsing on it is good and I just love it tbh.

I'm loving the DJM900, sound quality is awesome and i just do like the feel of it and the Traktor Cert-ness of it and the FX, though a little heavy handed, i do like. Post fader echo is still my fave and even though you can do it on traktor int the djm just feels better than my s2 or even the z1 imo. And the filters, although not as "warm" as Xone still sound better than traktor's int to me... though i have those mapped to my X1 to for filter variety anyway :) Glad I got an ebay bargain too.

But yeah i must say im finally pretty satisfied RGAS wise... which is nice.

Though I do still want maschine and komplete 9 hahah

Awesome set up! I always like when people have clean desk space and not too much wire mess :D And I really like how the white EXPIDIT looks, it would also look good with white monitors :D Great job putting it together!

Thanks, I think the white looks decent. Dark wood can be a bit oppressive I find sometimes...

And I hear you on white monitors... they would be nice! Maybe down the line...

I was tempted to get white skins for my x1 and djm900 but then i thought too much white would look a bit ...OTT.

I quite like the contrast of black gear on white too :)

Yeah feels totally solid. I used 6 feet instead of 4 for extra stability in the middle :)

I'm digging the ikea expedit diy. Which parts did you use for the laptop surface and speaker surfaces, including the metal legs?

The only thing you can't get from ikea is the longer bolts needed to attach the laptop shelf to the the expedit. You need to go to a hardware store or buy online.

Shame they dont have straight vertical brackets anymore...

I actually just used the Capita legs upside down which isn't super stable.

Nice setup! Just curious, what did you use as a stand for the Behringer CMD?

I got a metal NI kontrol stand for the x1 and I'm actually using one half of the x1 soft case for the pl-1. It's not ideal cause it sits on it, rather than in it but the height is pretty perfect :)

Just picked up an x1 mkii... its wicked

pics to follow and probs gonna flog the Pl-1 if any one is interested :)

Know what, i just cut those myself... There is a carpentry place near me that sell off cuts so i got a bit of white chipboard from them. The brackets are actually the Capita legs upside down and i just glued and screwed the wood into them.

tbh honest that's the most bodge bit of the job, though they work fine. Next time i need to order something from Ikea though I will get another set of Capita angular brackets and Lack shelves... or I might get small speaker stands.

Either way they totally do the job for now... actually do em pretty well

nice setup. i was thinking about going with expedit as well but i needed a table where i can keep my desk chair since i do production on the same table. i currently have my monitors on the same stand as my laptop but am thinking about raising them like yours. anyway, good stuff!

Added an Akai MPK Mini... weirdly started producing beats on Logic standing up (to get the main loop going) and prefer it to sitting...

Anyway it's nice to have the keys there to jam when the mood takes me.

I'm looking for a second platter since I'm in the same situation you were in (Reloop Contour with only one deck so I'd have to swap decks on the same controller). Tempted to get the X1 MK2, but then I'd be mixing up controllers.

It's just nice having both decks on one controller.

When i bought the pl-1 the x1mk2 hadn't come out. I like the touch strip idea cause i only really needed a way to mark the first cue and nudge the track, other than that jog wheel is un necessary... at any rate i got two giant jog wheels in the form of Technics 1200s :)

Hey man, nice job with the booth. I am planing on building something similar myself and have a random question. How tall is the tabletop where you place your decks etc? See, I am quite tall myself and wanted to somehow elevate the unit to about a meter but it seems that it's only about 90 cm with the capita legs.

The RPM3s are actually really cool little speakers. Got fairly decent clarity and punch for the price and size. Perfect for travelling tbh

Hi Maxone.

Can i ask how you route all your kit through your DJM 900? Are you using a USB Hub for all your MIDI controllers then having that run into the DJM/Mac/Traktor?

I ask because im looking at getting a DJM900 to run a maschine and 2 X1MK2's.

Yeah everything USB goes through one usb hub and then I just use the djm 900 as my sound card. I run traktor in ext mode. There's a pioneer utility for sorting where you want to route audio. Mixer sounds amazing imo. Crisp but punchy sound card for sure
