Carl Cox working with NI on new product?

So one of my mates was looking through the internets and came across this interview with Carl Cox ...

The thing that stood out was:

How much do you keep up with the developments in new technology, like new models of CDJs? Are those advances something that interest you?
Yeah, always. I’m actually working on something with Native Instruments at the moment, having a new mixer incorporated on Traktor, on which I play quite a lot. So I’m always up for what the future holds. I don’t think half the times it’s relevant, because people just want you to play on the ones and twos, but if you can create something unique within the element of what you do, I think that’s quite fun. And if you’re having fun with what you’re creating, that will show, and I think people need to have the tools to enable them to be creative.

So is he talking about the S8 or might this be the Z4 that so many people have asked for?

Well... It could be the Z4. ;)

It's the Z0.

It has no channels and 1 crossfader.
It has 16 outputs but no inputs.
It has one big button that is mapped to 'STOP' and the mapping is default and not editable.
It has 4 Hi-Def LCD screens that only show Paris Hiltons face.
4 ethernet ports - 2 serial ports - 2 ports for Sega MegaDrive controllers.

Comes with new software: TRAKTOR BRO (only plays Trap).

Available in December with every Happy Meal at McDonalds.

Mmm, I thought it was typical of my usual goofing. I guess you mean cus it's NI related - which is fair enough but it's not a leak, it's just a good speculation story. I'm happy to have fun with these things. It's leaks that I cannot stomach and that's because of my own sense of fair play and not for anything more sinister than that.

Carl Cox isn't gonna leak/speak about something he shouldn't. I have no idea what he's talking about, could be the S8.

Saw that video of him playing with the ios version and it looked like he had picked it up for the first time.

Maybe he got an incentive to create vague references for internet buzz. :P

I'm pretty sure they are busting out a Z4, since he likes to mix with 4 decks and I haven't really seen him use a F1, I'm pretty certain they are working on a 4 channel standalone mixer :O.

Could this all work with Traktor Pro 3...
I wonder if this will be a 'replacement' for the S4. We'll see.

Its short for Trappist, as in Trappist Monks. its basically 12" vinyl only (old school) of complete silence. Think Phillip Glass, but with Jesus poses.

But they aren't sponsored by NI and signed to NDA - and more importantly, Carl Cox isn't a c**t. He's a lovely guy.
Might have been part of the NI drip feed. Who knows, time will tell.

Z4 is a good candidate, a lot of people have been asking for one (myself included). I'll keep hoping for either a X2 or an additional controller for misc. options that aren't available on the X1, F1 or Z1.

Yeah, I heard about this a while back, I knew something was up as NI have been quiet. Seen their new keyboard for Komplete, nothing special though!

Yeah, not much of it, only what the YouTube video has shown. Didn't take much notice of NI's hardware. Unless a new version on TP comes out, I might pucker up my interest!

Sorry to do the "I just heard" thing but I have an update ... Seems like Carl Cox will be using the S8 as it's now on his tech rider.

Keep hope alive. Just replaced my old Z2 with a new one but will happily upgrade to some flavor of Z4 should it miraculously appear!

That was one of the original mockups sent out in an early beta. I first saw that a few months ago.
Dunno how it stayed in 2.7.0 but that is actually the Kontrol S8 and can be found in both Mac and Win installations - sorry guys.
