How dors Marco Carola control 4 decks? with just one Kontrol X1 and two technics?
A kontrol X1 typically controls 2 decks
I know.. but then on his mixer I see 4 tracks playing.
So he uses one X1 two control 2 tracks and the technics to control 2 other tracks?
Yes that is probably what is happening.
Either that or he has a custom 4 deck mapping for it, there are a few around such as this one.
Not only that, you can switch which deck the turntable is controlling.
He does control decks with the turntables and the X1, I've saw him playing in front of me. He also uses a pedal and other device I didn't recognize. I don't quite understand the use of turntables for techno, but anyway the sound was sweet.
2 decks tracks + 2 decks loops and samples
To some, it does. I use DVS at weddings and at every single wedding at least one person, usually a few people say how cool my timecode setup look as opposed to the usual wedding DJ hiding behind a booth with a controller.
Plus, when people can see you actually mixing they think it looks better and is more enjoyable to watch - seeing someone actually mixing has never and will never lose it's ability to amaze people.
I was an early adopter of midi controllers - I was pretty much the first controller user in my city and I have championed controllerism - so no accusation of vinyl/turntable snobbery can ever be levelled at me.
I know, you know that is a silly thing to say.
The fact that I use turntables sets me apart from other DJs (I'm talking weddings again - not clubs) and it is a USP (kinda) that is helping me generate good income.
I feel that we have drifted off topic.
when you play 4 decks on timecode the first turntable switch between A&C and the second B&D +the X1 for fx ..
When I was still all
VINYL PURIST MAN
I would lug around two extra 1200's to every gig to have four turntables. (DNB and Hardcore)
WHen I first picked up Serato I was having to use two decks for digital and still carry around my tt's to have two more decks for vinyl
Then, I discovered being able to use two turntables and simply switch between decks in Traktor and I was hooked.
on the mapping add in "timecode" "playback mode int/rel/abs" "button" "playback mode relative" on/off + routing audio in A/C in 1&2 etc ;)
