Yes. Run OSX in a VM using VMWare Workstation. Use shared drives feature to access a drive on your windows OS from the OSX VM. Install Rekordbuddy. Use Rekordbuddy to sync your collections. This is even easier if your collection is stored on a removable drive.
Thanks for the reply, I'm quite techy but even for me this seems quite difficult.
I've seen a YouTube post using cross DJ but can't get it to quite work
I used Cross DJ 3.0.1 to make the conversion, great youtube video out to show you. When it works its super quick and easy
please show such video, I'm currently running a VM just to run DJCU (traktor->rekordbox)
Here you go
https://youtu.be/N52rm1sBLu4
You do need cross DJ 3.0.1, in the comments the author has put a link to where you can find it
this looks VERY promising, will try for sure.
previously i've used DJCU, but my cue and loop location have moved.
The issue is described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl4nbvYmiP4
Can you tell me if this hapens with this method, using Cross DJ?
thanks
Dunno I've not seen the video but the cross DJ method does work well
for some mp3s rekordbox has a different definition of the 00m00s mark.
This makes the cues and loops appear in the working place.
It only happens somtimes, and for lower quality mp3s.
is this familiar to you?
No
Yes, that was me. I noticed they removed that post, but you can ask any questions here.
Out of curiosity, is there anything that the Cross DJ method doesn't do that you need? For example according to the video it only transfers 3 hotcues, even though Rekordbox DJ now supports 16 hotcues.
So I had all sorts with Cross to start with,
Didn't have the right version and then could not get the conversion to run so it was driving me nuts and you then provided your script but at 1st I thought I was going nuts as I couldn't find it
Cross does not convert all the cues
Does your script do anything specific to the Load, Fade in and Fade out points?
I found them super useful in Traktor.
So I'd still like to know how to run your script can you PM me some more details on what to do pls.
Thanks Bart
No, currently it doesn't do anything special for the cue types that Rekordbox doesn't support, it just converts them to a regular hot cue. The only thing I can think of is to assign colors to each cue type.
Instructions for the Python script:
- Download and install Python 3.7.0. Be sure to check "Add Python 3.7 to PATH" in the installer.
- Download rekordbox-export.py and save it to your Desktop.
- Open Command Prompt.
- Type cd Desktop and press Enter.
- Type python rekordbox-export.py "C:\Users\yourusername\Native Instruments\Traktor 2.11.3\collection.nml" rekordbox.xml and press Enter
The Cross DJ video explains how to point Rekordbox to the rekordbox.xml file on your Desktop.
Thank you
I assume in step 5 prior to collection. Nml this is the path to your nml file right as mine is stored on the D drive
Do you know of a way to batch assign hot cues to different colours or another method other than right click change colour.
Yes, that’s the full path to your collection.nml file. You can also pass a full path for the rekordbox.xml file, if you want to export it somewhere else.
I don’t think it’s possible to batch assign cue colors after importing tracks into Rekordbox, but you can set cue colors in the rekordbox.xml file and then import the tracks from there.
What do you mean by this bit
but you can set cue colors in the rekordbox.xml
I don't know how else to explain it. You can assign a color to a hot cue or memory cue in the rekordbox.xml file, so that when you import the tracks into rekordbox, it uses those colors.
So could I edit with notepad or similar.
Does it label them as hot cue 1 etc so I could do a find and replace?
Google knows how to edit XML files. See POSITION_MARK > Num in http://www.prodjnet.com/rekordbox/su...ormat_list.pdf.
Ok I see
This doc also mentions Positon Type = Fade In, Fade Out, Loop, Load.
But assume RB doenst support them atm?
I now tested the free version of Cross Dj for Windows. Its a trivial download on http://www.mixvibes.com/cross-dj-free-download/
It read the Traktor collection immediately, including playlists.
Cues are there, only a couple were missing or moved its number.
The BIG problem is that most tracks had their beatgrid and Cues not exactly on the beat anymore. This causes serious issues for Syncing and looping.
Please see the below picture for one of the many examples.

This is the same issue that I had before using DJCU:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7s0...ature=youtu.be
The author says that only some collections are effected.
Could you please check if you have this issue as well?
similar thread from 3x years ago: https://www.native-instruments.com/f...ws-how.255037/
Correct, it only supports Cue and Loop.
I noticed it with my script as well, some beatgrids were shifted but I couldn't figure out why. Now I understand it's due to different codecs.
It's possible that it has to do with using lower bitrate songs as well, because I noticed it while using a 160kbps royalty free MP3.
Precisely. All converters will be affected. And replacing thousands of mp3s by hand is not viable IMO.
As such, DJCU built a correction utility that operates AFTER the import into rekordbox. It reads what rekordbox considered to be first beat, and re-aligns that with what Traktor considered to be the first beat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7s0...ature=youtu.be
This process definitely worked inside my macOS VM - but there were still corner cases (eg, when the 0.0.0 beat was in negative time, etc.)

Erik, I loved your clean python code in your script. Definitively cleaner than mine :)
Would you consider having a go on this problem, and creating a (windows) solution for this?

Hi Erik
I tried to run this and got the attached error .Any ideas?

if you have any programming experience its not hard to debug this...
sorry to not be able to offer more help, but I'm working hard on the DJCU+RECU route, as AFAIK is the only solution that will fix the cues moving around issue.
There I have the additonal complexity of automating getting files in and out the macOS VM.
Please see 5:13 of this video for a demo of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7s0...ature=youtu.be
Latest rekordbuddy2 __beta__ fixed the cue shifted in time problem of a demo track I have. This is great news.
The stable release still has this problem.
next step is to run the beta on the whole collection, to see if more files fail.

update jan 2019: found a new open-source project in active development.
Windows release worked fine, except for the shifted cues project.

I've now took the time to document all the options I'm aware to do this conversion in windows:
https://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/trak...storage_format
also uploaded my bash scripts to run convertors in windows:
https://github.com/pestrela/music_scripts/
Hi Erik is this script still in place and working? I tried to use it before but got an error
You can use https://rekord.cloud to convert your library in a few clicks, can't get any easier than that. Works for Mac & Windows.
The shifted cue problem mentioned above will be there for a small percentage of tracks. Pioneer or NI are really the ones that need to fix that, whichever uses the broken codec.
