Well, it doesn't look bad. I like the simplicity of it, but you should try to do something with the text. So that it looks more like a unit with the background, instead of simple wihte text, written over it, if you know what I mean.
the font needs some smoothing, and maybe a little drop shadow i like the background tho. Also the underline on the words Volume One look too thick
I think I would try to have volume and one the same size and maybe with no line. Also might try to change the opacity of the text to make it blend a little better with the background.
^ yeah...i use photoshop but I dont know the proper terms for what im doing...hehe ask me midi and I become a total geek!
You also might want to spell "the" right, unless you meant to misspell it.
I suggest you should read up on the grid system - it will make your designs much more easier on the eye

also NEVER EVER use drop shadows on anything unless you want it to look like an estate agents logo :(
ok, so i cant make changes to the front cover :(
last night i had 2 gimp files and i got them confused and i deleted the one that had the front cover :(
(i also use ccleaner and ir empties the recycle bin for me :(:( )
but i have the file for the back cover, and i want the styling of the front to match the back, so no text. shadow stuff. but i can fix more minor things.
ill post it later
these are the ones i would use if i were to combine several mixes i already have
