Protip right there haha.
Unfortunately, promoters tend to ask for a link to your Soundcloud page these days :(
As for the legal issue, that's still up for debate. If you want an example of people taking liberties as far as the law is concerned, look at the ProDub License insanity.
Going to try the intro idea thanks for the tip! Had one rejected recently as well...
Haha, they never had anything to complain about my DJ mixes, but they recently sent me a copyright notice because of a loop I created on my Electribe SX using one-shot-samples from some sample cd. I laughed. A lot :D
How do you guys manage to get laid without DJ mixes?

Well, uploading copyrighted music is illegal. No grey area, no debate. We have done that subject to death on DJTT. As much as we all know it to be stoopid (and we do all agree that making mixes is essential) it is illegal. It's written in black and white.
We can debate the grounds that the law is based on but we cannot debate what is and is not in statute.
Now this kind of statement usually leads to a load of bile thrown back. It is possible to have awareness of the law and not agree with it.
Also, yeah I know what the ProDub Licence is. I have actually argued against it with a PRS Officer. She was completely uninterested in a discussion... and that's the point. There is no discussion with these people. The law is the law and we can all agree that it's wrong but until enough people come together and voice discontent all we can do is argue about it on here.
