Let's talk about or love for Windows 7.
I am a man in love.
I spent about 5 days configuring, tweaking, testing, installing, uninstalling, reinstalling and messing about getting Vista to do very basic stuff for me on my new 2.1 ghz duo, 4 gb ram, 128 mb graph, 7200 rpm hdd. It still doesn't feel solid, maybe partly because I still have the visuals of win98 due to the OS sucky build.
Today I installed a PRE BETA (!!!!) version ow Windows 7 (official beta set to drop in Jan 2009) on a 1.6 ghz duo, 2 gb ram (integrated motherboard graph) and 5400 rpm hdd. It took 30 min to setup, much due to the simple fact that all graph visuals are running all full, including transparency/glas/aero and whatever it's called.
I installed third party audio drivers like Asio 4 all, ran Traktor FLAWLESS at the same time as running internet, antivirus, MSN, skype, firefox and thunderbird.
Just comparing the two machines (one of them being 3 years old) the old lappy with Win7 and all of those things running came to about 950 mb of memory usage while the brand new lappy with spanking specs is pushing 1.5 gb in memory just for start up without anything running.
Reading about Win7 it is overwhelming how positive people are about it.
I think we have a winner and Microsoft might finally regain some credibility that they had worked in so nicely with the XP SP2 and SP3.
Anyone else tried it yet?
