As an Ableton user this doesn't seem all that amazing!
I don't see your point.
The fact is artists are going to release tracks in a new format which will allow on the fly editing whilst dj'ing, what's that got to do with Ableton?
Sure you can get stems for some songs now but not easily & ready to mix straight away.
Imagine the possiblilities with the stem of Levels *ducks*
Haha it's gonna happen - 20 minute remixes.
I think a cool thing to do would be to introduce parts of a song, building up to mixing it in.
I do it now with a loop of the breakdown or an accapella if I have it, can be cool with the right songs.
In the future, DJ's will be be more like composers. Bringing in elements and building to a whole track.
I thought DJ's would be doing it by now - but the learning curve is steep, and we're not pushing the limits like we should be... It's not a bad thing, but I just wish there was someone out there that plays my kind of music, that is REALLY pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the technology we have now.
Perhaps we should do a Forum mix competition with stems once they are available.
