Default Scroll through songs while playing

    Hi everyone,

I used to play with a Hercules DJ control MP3, in combination with Virtual DJ. As I wanted to step up my game, I changed to a VCI-100SE with Traktor Pro.
The hercules was a worthless piece of plastic, but it had one very nice function. You were able to jump through a song, while playing it, with a certain amount of beats, E.G 4 or 8.
And it would do it seamlessly so you couldnt hear it, so that if you see that the transition wouldn't go well, you skip back or forth a few bars to correct it. I believe it was called Seek within VDJ

Is there any way to map a few buttons within traktor to do this?

I hope I made clear what I mean, I'm not a native English speaker.

    Thanx in advance,
    chris

What I do know about Traktor is very little but what I do know is that YES this "SEEK" feature is possible. In fact you can also assign hot-keys to selected areas. Cool huh!? Yeah I thought so too.

Currently, I have DJ Control Steel and I am still using Virtual DJ 5 (OLE). I did just pick up Traktor PRO last week and I plan to use it along with the Hercules Steel.

I know its possible to do the SEEK but as I understand it you must beat-match each track manually in order for it work seamlessly other wise you get the skipping and clicking when you seek. After a successful beat match you can seek in sync with the proper tempo and BPM:eek:. I think Ean explains each of these steps in a video, try searching for beat-matching or beat match.

Also there is a tutorial on Youtube that explains the exact technique you are describing. I can't get the link for you at the moment because I am behind a firewall that prevents Youtube browsing. However, I am sure someone on here will point you in the right direction if you're still unable to figure it out.

Thanx for helping me out guys!
@deepdowninside: Isn't what you mean just beatgrids? I know how to set them up.

Is there anyone who succesfully mapped this on his vci-100se? Because I dont know which buttons I should use, pretty much al of them are in use.. Does anyone have any recomendations?

    cheers

Whoops yeah sorry I am a Traktor nubie. I meant Beatgrid. Once you beatgrid your tunes then you're more than halfway there. I think there you have to switch the settings or something from vinyl to CD response. I think thats in preferences. Once you do that, map the function and then seek away! good luck!

No no no! Don't do any of this crap.

Step 1: Pick any buttons you want and map them to the beat jump function. Personally I use one for +32 beats and another for -32 as phrase jumping is excellent.

Step 2: Ensure the songs are the correct bpm. That's it. Beat grids are 100% optional.

Step 3: Press the god damn buttons.
