Default Need Speaker advice...Tech tools UNITE!!

Right ill give it nice and quick TTF

One of my speakers blew last week, crappy things, no point repairing or even thinking about them, got no amp.

Need speakers that are about 100 Watt/90 dB stuff. Should be loud enough for about 40 people on a average day in a house party to about 100 people in a small club gig, like your local village hall or community hall type thing.

Ive got about 300-450 budget, but I want to save money where I can so i can get more kit later on etc etc

Id be using them in my home, at house parties and at parties called "Pre-formals" or "Pre-proms" for americans.. Kinda like fundraisers for the Actual prom/formal party so there would be a small club, nothing big, a 15 x 15 dancefloor MAX with over 100 people..

    HELP PLEASE!!
Already been told about active speakers but besides that I DONT KNOW SHIT.
Please Help DJ tech Tools... your my only hope..

Starting out I used the Behringer 208D's. They are amazing, still haven't failed my - their only issue is that they look wimpy because they are only 8" woofers, but they did well for crowds of around 30 people (it was a bit weak for gigs of 50+ people, but I rented JBL Eon 15's for that, which I would recommend doing as well). And yes, i know Behringer gets a bad name, but I very much enjoyed those (just like people enjoy the DDM4k)

Also, if you're starting out, get active speakers - dealing with an amp is expensive and can be annoying from what I've heard. Here's a link: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringe...86-i1449710.gc

Two of these 210D's will be more than enough for 40 people. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringe...16-i1449709.gc

Also, if you're willing to spend a bit more, my friend got the mackie thumps and enjoys them, but the have some tweeter issues so after a certain amount of gigs you might have to replace the tweeters.

Oh, and one last thing, get a PA set - it'll be cheaper and come with stands.
