Newbie in the HOUSE: Which MIDI to get?

So its time that I get a Midi controller and a software, but I dont know what to get. I was really impressed by the M-Audio Torq Xponent, and it's reviews. Some people I know tell me the Hercules RMX is better, but reviews say the buttons are too confusing.

Are there any other good options that go as high as $500 or around that?

you will be recommended one of these 3: traktor control s4, novation twitch or vci 100.

what I use and will always keep for gigging since my next mixer will be a big heavy xone 4d. Is a numark omni control... has a soundcard and the right amount of buttons and knobs to use all traktors functions with an easy layout

Audio 2 DJ + an analogue mixer + traktor kontrol x1.
I don't really care for all in one controllers, the modular approach is better in my opinion.

A problem with a lot of these recommendations is that they will leave you with little money for the software. No one ever takes that into account.

I'd buy traktor, the soundcard and either a mixer or a controller and then save money up for the other one.

You might be able to get good quality gear for cheaper second hand.

Get an RMX. I learned so much on it and I thank it for that. Built in audio card saves you money, it has phono inputs too so you can run some TTs if you find you got the vinyl bug.

In my head, its Traktor or Serato. No one good uses VDJ or that touq shit. I like Traktor a lot. midi controllers are handled better with it. RMX is a midi controller. 1+1

If you wan't to spend money, I've out grown my RMX and I need to use Dicers for cueing and an LPD8 for looping, and I want 4 deck mixing. The S4 would be a place to start, you would break it before you outgrew the thing. You can run time code with it so thats a huge plus. Can't do that with any other midi controller without getting cracked versions of Traktor.

Bullshit. Loads of people use ableton, VDJ and torq. In many ways they are better than traktor or serato. And even then there are plenty of other programs, each with advantages.
