beatgridding when the track is out of tempo

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to beatmatch when the grid goes out of time.

So I've got some tunes from vinyl and they're almost a constant BPM and the grid looks good at the start of the track, but it drifts by the end of the track.

I'm using Traktor and an S2. Is the only way to beatmatch to switch off the synch button and nudge the track forwards or backwards with the outer rim of the jog wheel?

You could also set a second grid marker where it starts to go out of sync.

What Photo said. Go never rely on Traktor to get the grid correct 100% of the time. If you think the Grid is off after letting Traktor grid it for you it usually is. Also from if this only seems to happen with songs you ripped from vinyl then it could have something to do with the TT you used to rip them with. Some older/well loved tables have a little pitch drift and that will throw it off.

But basically again what Photo said go look to see where the transients stop matching up and drop another marker and then adjust it so they match up. This will not affect any of the grid before the second marker it only affects the grid from that point forward.

Some songs are made with intentionally pitch shifts. One of my favorite songs has constants pitch changes, like 1-2 BPM every 32-64 bars back and forth. Anyways hope this helps.

Is dropping a second grid marker the same thing as setting cue point #2?

On some older songs (funk tracks for instance) I have to set sometimes 4 grid markers and sometimes it's not enough. Really at this point if you are trying to loop in a new track it comes down to the old manual method and cue juggling back to you loop point manually.
