Arrow **Logic Pro Available For $199.00**

Hey guys, not sure if you guys are aware, if so just ignore or if its a repost mods please delete.

So....... Apple have announced that they will discontinue the sale and making of Logic Pro in the box set, and have made it available for download in the App store for only $199.00..

    Here's the link:

    http://www.macrumors.com/2011/12/08/...mac-app-store/

So what do you think? Is it a good deal?

I think it is, its less than half of the old price, and it looks to me as if its the same thing as the box set. Score!

Well I know that I'll be buying it, and it seems like a good alternative for anyone looking to start production at an affordable price. No more spending $500-600 on Ableton etc.....

So what do you think? Cheers.

Yeah as far as I know they discontinued Logic Express, and will only offer Logic Pro and Main Stage as downloads from the App store, no more box sets.

Looks like the app version doesn't come with the 60GB sound library.

So its not the same as the box version, just made as a download instead of coming as CD's?

For $200, yes. Absolutely. It was still a decent bargain at $500 compared to Ableton Studio and Pro Tools.

It probably has fewer EXS24 instruments…maybe. But Apple Loops are overrated (and they were the majority of that library). And you can buy them separately anyway.

Yeah cos I've been playing around with Ableton Live trying to see if I like it, before forking out $500 to buy it.

At this price though IMO it would make more sense to get Logic if it hasn't been scaled down to much. I was reading the features on the App store and comparing it to the box version, and it doesn't seem that scaled down.

It might be missing a few things compared to the box version, but surely that wouldn't hinder ones performance or productive capabilities?

I say go for it. I have the boxed version and I wouldn't hesitate to have gotten the app version.
