Technics problem

Ok i've been using a 1210 in my setup lately, but for some reason after the tonearm gets to about half of the record it starts jumping back alittle and like getting stuck in a loop. Anyone had this problem or know what I can do to fix it?

Might be a problem with the anti-skate, or tone arm bearings...

how would I go about fixing it? Get a new tonearm?

Sounds as if one of your gimbals screws is too tight. Usually when this happens it is the top screw. Have you had it apart recently?

Have you tried adjusting the anti skate?
Placing the needle on the blank side of a single sided record (or a homemade solution) and adjusting the anti skate is best (there's a couple of vids on YouTube), you can get close by floating the tonearm and adjusting it tho.

Nah I haven't had it apart recently. I've only had them for a few months and its my first pair of tables so im kinda clue-less lol.

You don't need to take anything apart.
Setting up turntables, adjusting the tonearms and anti skate have all been covered on the forum in the past.
There's some good tutorial vids on YouTube showing how to set them up too.

The anti skate is used to change the force exerted by the tonearm towards the centre spindle or outer rim of the platter to counteract the force the spinning record/platter exerts on the needle/tonearm.
I think yours is set incorrectly and is pushing the needle out towards the outer rim of the platter, hence the skipping as it gets towards the middle of the track.

Ok well i'll try and get it worked out. Any recommendations on tonearm height for a 1210 MKII?

Set the height so the tonearm is level when the styli is on the vinyl or as close to level as you can if the height adjust won't allow for it to be level.

There's not set value as different slipmat combinations and different carts require the height to be set differently.
