cant decide cdj 350's or 850's

As title says im looking for a pair of cdjs for home to link into serato/traktor, i know native support is not there for both but timecodes work for me for present.

Is it worth spending the extra bucks for a 850 because of the platter size on the 850.

I dont scratch but do use vinyl mode as like to cue up with jogs and not cue points.

Is the pitch control feel and range the same on both ?

Never owned and cdjs before and use techinics 1210's and have used a vci for a few years now.

Id like to hear from anyone that has used either .

Hmmm, I would get the 850s over the 350s, but I prefer the 400s.

IHMO, I think the 350s are ok, but has less features than the 400s. And the 850 are nice, but the lack option to link them to another 850 is a waste. Might as well save a few more dollars to get the 900s at the very least.

The pitch range on the cdjs are awesome, you will realize how much more accurate they are than the 1210s. I know this from owning a pair of original 1210e MKII. The smaller platter size is something to get use too and a larger one doesnt matter, because the range is the same in my book for cueing.

Being as im going to use these with a computer 99 per cent of time do i really need the extra 900 features ?

it's a no brainer :
CDJ 850 all the way

- because the plater makes a real difference, especially if you're used to TTs
- because it's the same thing as the CDJ1000, which is the club standard
- because the resell value is going to be better

don't get the 900s, does't add much features and the price is way bigger
the 850 has by far the best price/features ratio of the range.

Means you can link by eithernet and use one computer/memory stick etc

Meaning, the 850s and the 350s, can not be link linked to eachother to share music via one usb stick or to a DJM2000 Mixer. You can link up to four 900s and 2000s together to have four decks running one source of music.

Platter size doesnt make a difference is youre just blending tracks. The 350 and 400 are small, but large to feel normal. Platter was one my biggest concerns to, since I have been spinning with vinyl 17 years prior to getting the 400s. I can easily spin on any platter, I use the 800s, 1000s, 2000s and even a BCD-3000 on the regular to say it doesnt make a difference. It just like the guys who the buy the Denon 3700s for the spinning platter vinyl feel, then selling their decks for a non-spinning platter because they realize over time it doesnt make a difference.

ariser do as you wish, it does come down to preference and budget. I say dont buy gear based on the resell value, but for the function and quality of the product. I suggested the 900s, because feature wise it has more value than the 850s and in the long run you may want to be able link multiple decks together or use more than with just your computer. If youre just hooking up to just with your computer than dont waste your money and get the big mode, because you will be waste your hard earned cash. Yesterday I had a chance to use my Traktor with a friends 2000s, I can tell half the feature of the 2000s are wasted but they dont work in Traktor. And the controls were the same when connected to my Traktor as if I was using my 400s at home. Why pay $1600 for 2000s, when you can get the 400s for $600 and get the same functions in Traktor as a controller. As CDJs, I say if you have the money, get the 900s, because they will better in the long run.

I'll probably never use the cd part much only for odd house party when other dj needs it as i'll use timecode off the usb, just want some quiet timecodes for home as the vinyl ones are too noisy at low volumes, i know pepole will say get a controller instead , but i have one already and i miss my long pitch control off the 1200's, lol cdj seem logical choice as can be uses as usb , controller and cd player.

Actually the 350 is looking tempting cso of price and same layout as its bigger brothers fit nicely on the desk too
