Default CDJ 400 or CDJ 350 second hand

    Hi,

I'm looking to buy either used CDJ 400 or CDJ 350. I can get a good price for either. Considering I'm turntable dj and I'm not so much familiar with cd decks (this will be my first), I'm worried about laser on used cd decks.

How long does lasers usually last, can I check date of manufacture and be aware of how long it worked and will it fail soon ?

Where on Pioneer decks can I find Date of Manufacture ?
How long laser last for cdj decks approximately ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if your going to buy a set of cdjs i would say go for the pioneer 1000

they have a larger jog and are great for mixing with and scratching , as for the lasers i am not sure the mk3s ware the last in line for that style of cdj , after that it was the smaller cdjs ,

the 400s and 350 i would say second hand will still last a long time as they both aret that old you could probs pick up a cheap pair on ebay or gumtree

If you're going that cheap, pioneer may not be your best bet...

Guys I don't need advice for which one I should go for... that's already decided

I just need to know how to check for how old is it and if laser is gonna last me some time (don't wanna end up buying the unit and then discovering it can't read cd`s).

If it doesn't have to be a pioneer you might look into the gemini cdj-700.. Its a knock off of the CDJ-900 pretty much.. plays all formats, sd, usb, cd, midi, hot cues, loop adjust, ect, ect... jog wheel is a bit heavier then on the pio's, but for the price this thing really is a killer deal. esp if you plan on just using it for a home setup..

350 - has RekordBox support but no HID for Traktor yet (?)
400 - has no RecordBox suport but supports HID for Traktor

I really don't know which one I would get, maybe Rekordbox support is more important as you could test and prep your material in case you play at clubs later.
