Default Korg NanoKontrol for Traktor Pro 2 (Sample Deck C+D + Loop Recorder)

    Korg Nano Kontrol C+D Layout.jpg

    Hey guys,
I made a custom Korg Nanokontrol mapping for the times when I don't want to use Maschine.
This mapping is only controlling Sample Decks C+D and the Loop Recorder.
    I hope you like it.

Here's some help with the layout:

Page 1 : Remix Deck Controls

-All Knobs control the Mixer EQ, or the filters for each slot individually
    -All Faders always control volumes
-Top row buttons are slot play/pause
    - Bottom row is slot re-trigger.
Turn phase sync on by pressing the Sync On button on bottom row number 9.

    Page 2: Sample Loading Page

-All Knobs control the slot size.
    -All Faders always control volumes
-Top row buttons load samples from the browser list, press (9) to load from decks.
-Bottom row sets play mode for each slot.

The transport buttons are for browsing.
Use the << >> buttons for jumping through favorites,
Use play/stop to scroll up/down the list.

    Page 3 : FX Units 3+4

-All Knobs control the FX Units.
    -All Faders always control volumes.
-All Top buttons control FX Units.
-Bottom row is for retriggering, Hold the FX enable knob to enable FX for a slot.
-Use the << >> transport buttons to enable FX for Deck C or D.

    Setup:
1.Open Korg Kontrol Editor, backup your settings.
2.Click file, Open, locate the file "Custom Korg NanoKontrol.nktrl_set" attached to this post.
3.Click communication, select "Write scene set".
4.Confirm overwrite and close the Kontrol Editor.
    5.Open Traktor Pro.
6.Go to the settings and then controller manager.
7.At devices, Click Add.. then import at the bottom of the drop down menu.
8.Select "Korg NanoKontrol C+D.tsi" from this folder.
9.After loading, make sure the in and out ports are set to NanoKontrol.
    10. That's it!

    Hey beaubryte.
Thanks! This is great and very useful as I've been looking for something like this for a while. Do you know if it's possible to add another map, say for effect banks to one of the other scenes on the controller?

Hi, I moved this old post to here:http://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/316. Adding another map is possible but you have to re-learn all controls again. Now on the nano kontrol that's not a big deal. Maybe if I have some spare time...

I decided to upgrade this mapping, The NK can come handy during traveling this summer.
It's all about the sample decks C+D, Fx Units 3+4 and loop recorder.
I tried to keep it simple on this little baby so no fancy shifted features. but the basic stuff.
So anyone who has one laying around, dust it off and get going.

This is awesome beaubryte! I've really been enjoying the first mapping you did, as it's really helped in my sets. Now, having the FX banks mapped will make a world of difference. Thanks!!!!

    Hey Beau,

I will definetly blow the dust away of my nanokontroll and test this mapping.

Sounds really great to fire the 4/8 slot of the remix decks. As i understand it right?

I have think about buying me a F! or MF3D for testing the Remix Decks- but now I didnt spent money just or testing cause I can use my dusty NanoKontrol ! Great! Thank you I will give you feedback!

You got it right, it toggles and sets the first 4 samples with most common options for both deck c+d.
    Keep me informed!

    Hi Beau,

so i tried your mapping today and all regarding the installation seems good!

Mapping work also- but I dont get warm with the remix decks.

    Had a few issues:

    - I think they are not in sync with my track deck sounds crappy (sync is on) and for testing i used a 4/4 loop form the track that im playing.
but it dont match correct- it sounds like they are not in sync

Than i tried a bas drum from the NI remix sets- also that was in sync and sound also terrible.

I think its not an issue of your mapping.

(the tracks are 99% perfect gridded- but either if there are not perfect gridded the test with the 4/4 loop from the same track that i play should match correct cause they are than same gridded or ?

    @beau

I think something goes wrong in the Mapping. If i Click a Button on the nanocontrol to Start the slot is not in Sync ! If i Click One slot to Start with the mous its Start not directly but when its start its in Sync! So something IS different between your Start Slot and a mousclick Start Slot! Could you help me please edit your Mapping to start a Slot thats like a mouseclick Start a Slot?

If this would work it would be amazing Mapping! Thanks for your help in advance!

    Try this with your NanoKontrol:

    While using loops:
    * Press button number 9 from the bottom row to put "phase sync" on hold.
    * While this 9th button is On (red) the loops will be synced when triggered by the trigger buttons from the bottom row.
    * So use all the buttons on the bottom row to trigger loops on-beat, use the top row only for stopping the slots.

When you're using one-shots and single samples that don't need quantizing, turn off low button number 9 for instant punch-in.

    Additional tips for Traktor:
    * Make a Track deck master for testing
    * Set the deck c/d to sync to that master deck.
    * By clicking in the remix deck player window at the "Blue Dot" you can set the time (measures/bars) for phase syncing.
Traktor waits a specified amount of time until it fires a sample after it is been hit.
    * @ preferences > Transport > Sync Mode: Decide whether remix decks can be master too

    Enjoy!
