VU meter mapping problem
Howdy!
Having some trouble with mapping VU meters in Traktor Pro 2. Ean's explanation here works great: http://www.djtechtools.com/2013/10/2...dj-controller/
The problem is that with the meters mapped (four decks, each to one set of four vertical buttons), the inactive LEDs and active LEDs on my MF3D become useless. They are currently green when both inactive and active despite my setting being light blue (inactive) and dark blue (active). In Ean's video (with a Spectra, not 3D) the buttons appear to retain their MF Utility settings when the meter setting is not active. Not so for me. Any help with why this is?
Also also, I've found no instructions so far for doing anything like this:
I know this is in Ableton.. can this be done in Traktor?
Much thanks!

Do you have anything else mapped to the buttons besides the VU meter?

No.. just Ean's mapping on the MF3d and my custom mapping for my DN-MC6000.

So to be clear, your VU meter when active is light blue and dark blue, but when the deck is not playing the button is green?
That is odd. I would expect you to lose the on off function of the button colors because you have told the led to work as an out put for Traktor. If you want the Led to work for a different function when the deck is not in play, you will need to map it and apply the deck playing modifier to all the out commands.

Hi Van,
Clarification: I have each deck (1-4) linked to each set of 4 vertical buttons. So if deck A is active, the leftmost 4 buttons serve as my VU meter. Same for decks 2-4. This works great. The problem is that if only deck A is playing, the 12 rightmost buttons are lit a soft green color and I cannot change this in my MF Utility.
Thanks!

Ok. I went back and looked at the video. When Ean changes the midi range from 0-127 to 97-127. That changes the colors from the MF utility setting to a Traktor setting. Change your VU mapping's midi range back to 0 and 127, and uncheck blend. This should make the buttons display only your MF utility setting. Not at my set up to check, but pretty sure that is what is going on. I'll check when I get home to be sure.
The midi range will display your on/off colors when at 0 (off) and 127 (on). If you change these numbers in Traktor, you will change the color set by the MF utility.
The LED on the MF has a midi range of 0-127. The different colors are at different values. Example: 07-12 is bright red and 13-18 is dim red, while green is 55-60 and dim green 61-66. So if you select a midi range of 07-55 the LED will display red at 07 and green at 55, and with blend unchecked those colors would be the on/off states of the LED. If you select blend, then in the VU meters's case, you would display all the colors from 07-55 on a LED (note: that also depends on the range setting).
