Problem with user library
Hey Guys,
I have this problem for a long time now and couldīnt find a solution so far.
So i thought maybe here are some experts who can help me.
Some Information:
- Iīm a Beginner
- I use Ableton Live 9 Suite on a 64Bit PC
- Donīt have any Problems with Midi Devices or any Plug-Ins so far
The Story:
In Ableton I can use the Sounds, Drums, Samples etc. which are in the "CATEGORIES". Then I had the idea to add some new Sounds. There are many free Soundpacks to download, so I chose one or two and downloaded them.
Then I wanted to link the Soundpacks in my Ableton browser, to use them in Ableton.
The Problem:
After I downloaded the Soundpacks I wanted to link them in my Ableton Broswer, so I can use them anytime. I used the "Add a Folder"-Function. So the folder is added under Places, but itīs empty. There are no Sounds, which I had downloaded.( Just empty folders for Kicks/Drums etc.) On my PC the Sounds are saved as .wav files.
Had somebody the same Problem and got a Solution on this?
Or have anybody tips to set up my Ableton Browser/User Library?
Thank you guys very much!

PS: If I did some mistakes, Iīm sorry! My English isnīt very good

Ok so I just tried to reproduce the problem you're having.
I clicked on add new folder to Places, and selected my Desktop - all my desktop files are visible.
When you click on "add a folder" are telling Ableton where to find your samples? e.g. c:\documents\downloads ?

st of all thank you for your reply!
I am doing the following:
1. Downloading a Soundpack and extracting the rar/zip Data.
2. Then I have the Folder, with different folders for Claps/Kicks etc. in it.
I can open the folder and hear the Sounds in my Windows Media Player.
3. At next Iīm putting this folder in my head folder named "Sounds and Presets"
This Head folder is on my Desktop.
4. Now Iīm opening Ableton and go to: "Add a Folder". So I have to select my folder.
I tried these two different ways:
1. Computer/C:/User/"ME"/DESKTOP/SOUNDS AND PRESETS FOLDER
2. I directly chose my Sounds and Presets folder.
In Ableton now I have the folder in your browser under places.
When I click on it(the Sounds and Presets folder), the browser shows you the other folders of the Soundpacks. But not all of them and in a wrong row. And there are no sounds in it.
And when I click one of the folders, they are opening but are empty as I said. And sometimes my Ableton says in the Stateline in orange color:
"This File does not exist. Please new scan your library"
I remember in Live 8 you could scan your library. But in Live 9 there isnīt any function like this, or is?
Hope there are some more helpful informations.
Thankful for each reply.
