Free Midi Program?

Hello, i have the Razor Tartarus for gaming, and was looking at getting the Midi Fighter, and was wondering if there was an free midi program to turn a keyboard into a midi board, i was hoping to use it to practice

Have a look at what the people who make midi controllers out of makey-makeys are using. I gather that outputs keyboard keys rather than midi notes or CCs so they must be converting it with something...
