    Default DJM500 - Modding

    Hi guys,

I have an old DJM500 which is perfect for home use. The only thing that bugs me with it is that you can only have 3 line channels.

DO any of you know if you can change the 4th fader from a phono to a line by simple changing the fader? or is there more to it than that?

    cheers

you´d have to remove/change the pre-amp on the 4th channel from phono to line. the fader won´t change anything and I have no idea on how to do that

If you have an NI Audio8 soundcard, it's possible to route the headphone out in to the sub mic on channel 4. It takes a little bit of fiddling with the volume levels but it does work. That's how I have my set up at home.

In order to do this, you need to bypass the preamp circuitry on the board. After looking at the schematic of the DJM 500, the circuitry is a little more complex on the preamp side than I am comfortable with. Here it is if you need some reference to it. I highlighted the preamp circuit in red. DJM-500_RRV3107-4.jpg

Cheers for the replies guys, I had a feeling it would require some soldering to do what i want. The Sub Mic work around is pretty cool and seems to be my best bet.

Other than that i guess i need to by a new mixer like the Xone 42/92.
