    Default Midi controllers

    So I would like to make a custom midi fighter that would be 4x4 with two line faders and one cross fader. I am looking at using parts that people use for Arcade Sticks but I am confused to the inputs that I would get on each pad. Does anybody know if these connections are do able with these boards for a midi controller?

    Why not just get a official midi fighter. I has 4 analog inputs so you can add up to 4 faders/knobs. And 4 digital inputs so you can add up to 4 buttons/switches.

    sorry shouldn't have said midi fighter. I want to make a midi controller sort of a project for myself. Its fun making your own thing even if it is just expanding off another idea. Plus if I get clarified on what is digital and analog on a board like this I could have more options later on. In the end it is a project I would like to take up like they did

    Digital = Buttons/Switches (2 wires)
    Analog = Faders/Pots(knobs) (3 wires)

    Rotary encoders/endless knobs also use a digital signal, but it is different from the standard buttons, it uses 3 wires and requires some more circuitry.

    For your controller you might want to check out the Hale UMC-32...

    Thanks for that definition it helps but I guess I am still confused if those boards can do the 3 faders or not. The hale looks interesting but is fairly expensive.

    I-Pac and Mini-Pac is a no go for faders. The Chutulu, i'm not sure, but i'm guessing it won't work.

    You could just hack up a gamepad like this...

    Check out what Oskars has made with a gamepad in this post...

    If you search the forums you can find quite a few controllers that have been built off of gamepads.

    I was looking at the UMC32 again and I actually kind of like it. I am confused though on how I am to connect the digital and analog controls. It looks like a clusterfuck.

    I guess what I should be asking is how do I separate or connect the ribbon cable to an arcade button or a 10K liner slide pot?

    It's kind of just slice an pull, to get you the leads that you need. They have a full support forum on hale's site to help you out...
