Default Maschine vs. mpd + logic

I've been getting into production a bit using my midifighter as a drum machine in logic... I'm not too familiar with logic, so switching isn't a problem at all.

So, my question is... Would I be better off with Maschine or with a MPD, logic, and some sample pack? If the latter please recommended some good sample packs O.o

Maschine is a really great hardware + software combo but for making complete tracks you really help yourself by having a DAW. Making complete tracks just in Maschine is a pain in the butt and mixing it down properly is next to impossible. So Maschine + DAW I would say.

the thing with the maschine is that it allows for a very smooth and quick flow when doing sample/drum set work.

Where as with logic you'd have to individually load everything onto each bank and map it, maybe there's a faster way of doing I don't know I'm not overly proficient with Logic myself but that is what it has been like so far for me.

Also, the other good thing with the maschine and its 1.5 update is the following. Once you have completed your drum/sample patterns you can literally drag and drop it into any DAW that you're using. So as mentioned earlier by Sander go with a Maschine + DAW combination. Yes it'll be a bit more expensive but you will be able to do SO much more

i use maschine/logic and its great! the samples that come with maschine are great! and you can use it as a plugin in logic aswel, which is mainly how i use it... because like sander said in the above post, making tracks in maschine alone is a pain in the ass for proper mixdowns and stuff... its good for getting ideas down quickly though, sometimes i just play around in maschine in standalone mode and if i come up with something i really like, ill just open logic and import what ive done into logic, or rewire the maschine groups to different channel strips. Id highly reccomend maschine over the LPD, even purely based on the midi controller itself

mashine is a superior midi controller, and the controller editor that it comes with lets you map it to allmost anything accept your kitchen fridge, so if you wanted you could switch between maschine mode and MIDI mode seamlessly and also control logic's sampler with it and keep switching back and forth.

I use maschine with TSP aswell, and i find it is a great control surface for traktor, and the pads are great for beat juggling, plus the dual screens let you see what you have assigned to the knobs, as well as their values and on/off status... which is... awesome... also with full LED feedback which is great in the clubs, because a lot of club booths are pretty dark, and it helps a lot to see what your doing/pressing when everything is nicely lit up.

the possibilities are endless... id say go with maschine... definately...

    Maschine for sure.

It emulates the MPD series. as well has a Midi mode that you can use to trigger samples in the same way as you would an MPD

I myself have a maschine and use it to great effect

Thanks for the input, luckily I decided on neither and have just settled with a mouse and keyboard in the meantime. I'll be sure to buy a maschine when I get into production enough O.o

I think I'm getting a Maschine next month, but I've been teetering on the edge of that decision for a few months.
