    Default Numark Mixtrack & Midi-Fighter?

I'm new to this forum as well as the world of mixing. I started playing around with traktor about a month ago. I just recently bought a mixtrack its not the nicest controller but it seems to be a good starter controller. I'm getting to the point where I want to add something more to my mixes tho. I was thinking a midi-fighter might be just the thing. So here is the question.

Is it possible to use the mixtrack with a midi-fighter and is this a practical combo?

i have a mixtrack as well. don't underestimate the capabilities of this controller. while the latency of the jogs and crossfader aren't the best on the market. with the right mapping you can do all sorts of creative mixing techniques.

that being said I also am looking to purchase a midifighter for added effects in my mixes, but I would say focus on what you have now. I don't see why these two wouldn't be a viable combo

    Absolutely can be done.

mapping should be a cinch. But definitely focus on what you got now. It may hinder your set-up a little more.

I was thinking map the mixtrack so it can control 4 decks then use a midi-fighter for effects and learn some beat juggling.

yeah you can use as many controllers as you want in Traktor. i currently use 3. MF is one of them.

one thing you can do is mimic the jog wheel focus of the S4. as you know, the S4 only has 2 jogs but it is designed to control 4 decks. there is a button on the S4 that is mapped to focus which deck responds to the jog movement. so if you have deck A selected, the jog controls deck A--if you press a little button it now controls deck C. if you don't scratch, i recommend mapping the little scratch button to focus the deck (likewise for deck B and D). the tough thing will be controlling your levels on all 4 decks because there are only 3 faders available. be creative though. let me know what you come up with

There is no way to have the faders change over as well such as having the deck A fader go to Deck C when hitting the scratch button as well? I think it would be a good idea for a company like numark to make something like the mixtrack to work with 4 decks so u dont have to spend a whole lot of money to try 4 deck mixing. They would prolly sell like crazy.

Sure you can do this. Not a bad idea... I would be worried about the position of the fader when switching back and forth though. Like, what if you are playing a track in deck A and the volume fader is all the way up, then you want to adjust the volume on deck C. As soon as you hit your focus to C, the position of the fader is all the way up so the mix could get all fucked for a split second. Maybe not though... Something to try out.

I agree. Like a hybrid between the Mixtrack and the S4. Now that most software has 4 decks as an option we'll probably start to see a lot of "affordable" 4 deck controllers.
