Default FX control - smart knobs?

    Hi guys,

So my S4 arrived yesterday, and I spent much of today learning how Traktor works (previously an Ableton guy).

So far it's great, but I'm curious about the FX panels. The default FX behaviour is OK, but it's not the most ergonomic workflow to pick through a series of FX and control their parameters separately.

I vaguely recall that VCI-100 users were using "smart knobs", which meant one knob would autoselect a rack of FX and control their parameters as a group. This seems like a cleaner approach (much like my Ableton setup), and I've learned how to implement it with a generic MIDI controller.

What I'm wondering is: can I override the default S4 MIDI behaviour to enable smart knobs on my FX banks without breaking anything else?

Secondly: I rather like the jogwheel "FX mode" they've hidden in the preferences. However, it only controls the last parameter of an FX rack: would it be possible to change this so the jog will control several parameters of a chain or advanced FX rack simultaneously?

From what I can see, these are both things that are semi-standard on the VCI-100 (with the popular DJTT mappings), but the S4 manual still hasn't been released, so I'm not clear on all the specifics of how it might actually work.

    Thanks!

Look up some post by Yul. He’s gone into some good detail on what you can and can’t do with the mapping.

Quick answer – no. For some reason it will not allow knobs to work as buttons to load effects. But there’s some creative presets you can do.

The manual should be on the disk, or the software itself. Also check out Traktorbible.com they have some creating mapping ides there as well.
