Default How do you guys get your music heard / sold?

Hey DJTT, I recently made a new track, and I'm wondering, how do I get it out there? I posted it on soundcloud and iTunes, but I'm curious as to how to get more exposure?

Share any tips, experiences, and methodes as to how you got your music heard!

    Bingo!

Another option would be to send it out to DJ's who would appreciate it. Sometimes all you need is the right DJ jocking your track out to make a buzz and there will be huge demand for it even before it gets signed.

Two good examples of recent memory are Art Department - Without You and Michel Clies - La Mezcla.

There was so much hype behind these two tracks before they even got released, all because the right DJ('s) where rocking them across the globe but keeping them on lock down.

Man I wish I could get on a record label, I sent my track everywhere.

And I'll try that DJ idea, but I only know a couple local DJ's, so I don't know if I can get it out to any DJ's out of state :/

Well, is your track very "run of the mill"? If so then you should try getting on a smaller, less known label as they are usually trying to jump on a trend and not start one.

On the flip side, if your track is very different and unique, not following any trends but still a quality dance song (easier said than done) then try sending it out to the more well established labels who are known as the tastemakers.

Wow, great idea, and I think my current tracks along with my current one are very "average". I always try to incorporate classical elements, but more and more, producers are starting to use the baroquen feel.

As for some small labels, I don't even know where to look for some small ones, is there any suggestions of where to start?

Again, great ideas! Keep em' comin'

Go to google and do some fishing, getting your tracks out there is a massive task.

I don't really try to get my stuff out there with other people, it's just if I play a track of mine at a party and someone wants to know what it is, I tell them I made it and give them a demo cd. Also, talk to friends of yours that have gigs in clubs every now and again or even residencies. They normally will be okay with tossing in a new track from a friend. Same thing goes for them, give the DJ some Demo CDs and tell him to give some out to people who are vibing to the music the most when he gets the chance.
