Exclamation Traktor S4 and Dell XPS problems

    Hello all,

Im new to DJTECHTOOLS and had just recently purchased the traktor s4. Amazing piece of machine but I have been having small problems with it.

I currently have a Dell XPS with Intel Core 2 1.83 ghz, 3.00 GB, and 32-bit OS Vista system and ive been trying to run the traktor 2 program on my computer but it is taking a long time to analyze the mp3 files from my library. Also, whenever I play my tracks, they seem to sometimes skip/lag.

Any suggestions? Ive tried the windows optimization guide but it doesnt seem to work...

check the latency settings and optimize your windows.. (which kinda implicates switching to any other win than vista )

Do yo mean it's taking a kong time to analyze your entire collection or a long time to analyze a single song?

Not sure how much of these tuning tips will help you since they're written for Windows 7.

Vista is the issue, try turning off the windows search, i had unlimate running on a far faster lappy than yours and experienced the same problems, upgraded to win 7 on the same machine, and it ran very well.

I now run win7 x64 on an XPS and it's perfect.

Del XPS means ''huge problems''. Consider saving some money and get another comp. Processor and specially audio/video card have been reported from the XPS series since the very beginning.

Complete and utter nonsense ...where do you get those outlandish claims?

The GFX is an NV 445 with 3Gb DDR5 RAM ... absolutely ZERO problems, it even plays crisis at extreme rates. If you have one of the non QM processors then it has an Intel HD GFX built in too, this uses a process called Optimus for saving power when only using office apps etc.

The onboard sound is about the best you can get, a JBL Full Dolby HD 7.1 at 192K, with a separate JBL (yes you read correctly, the sound is provided by JBL) subwoofer producing almost 20watts of power. (I've actually been asked to turn it down when i've had the laptop out and about).

Processor ....now you really are claiming something stupid, ZERO problems with the CPU, for gods sake they are all 1st or 2nd Gen i series .. the same as the MacPro.

There is a problem with audio streaming from a USB2 device connected to a UBS3 port ... but we know that and it can't be fixed. So what do we do, connect it to a USB2 port ...

So, now I have that off my chest over to you defend your statement, and PROVIDE EVIDENCE .... not a half cocked unfounded childish statement like the previous one.

edit ...obviously I'm talking about the new range of XPS series, however the XPS range has always been at the top of it's game, normally out of the price range of most people. They always had the best kit installed in them, thats why they are called the eXtreme Performance Systems.

Go and troll somewhere else ...

Exactly which model is it ?

I am presuming it's a laptop, and based on using only the Core 2 at 1.83Ghz I believe it's M1530. Please update the specifications in your posting.

A 1.86Ghz CPU is slow compared to today's machines, but the good news the laptop is very much upgradable. T9500 CPU @ 2.6Ghz, SLI GFX, 8Gb RAM etc..... plus overclocking capabilities.

I agree. I use a Dell XPS, and it has been nothing but the most reliable machine I have ever used. The trick with Windows is simply maintaining your machine.

As JSM said, go troll elsewhere....
