Default First Piece of Hardware and thoughts?

    Hey everyone,

I am new to this specific forum, and am very happy to be apart of such a close group of individuals with a common passion for DJ'ing and controllerism.

I have been using Traktor Pro 2 for quite some time now. I am a freshmen and college, and have played at a handful of parties with my software alone, by using the keyboard function for Traktor. I have had a lot of positive feedback on my mixing and technique, and would like to take it to the next level with my first purchase of hardware.

My gut feeling and a bit of research has lead me to lean towards the Traktor S2, but price is sort of issue for me. If i choose to wait it out and go for the S2, it won't be until about christmas time for myself, which may not seem long, but for someone who is thriving to step it up, it feels like a long time.

I also would like to take a look at a Midi Fighter and maybe get some feedback on if this unique piece of hardware could maybe stand alone for mixing, effects, loops, etc until i get my S2, and then combine both for an even better live performance in the future.

Any advice on hardware, and my possible choices would be great.

Can't wait to get the ball rolling, and dive deeper into digital DJ'ing

    Cozy

The S2 is a very safe bet, I highly doubt you will be disappointed if you invest in one as it's just a nice safe all rounder.

You could use a midifighter as a stand alone unit but I would not recommend it. There's just not enough analogue controls to map to the mixer and using buttons to adjust levels/EQs/etc is far from fun. Even if you got the midifighter pro you'd still have hardly anything to work with.

    Thanks for the reply,

I am really set on the s2, as I do not need the 4 deck s4. Are there any other cords necessary to run on say a Macbook Pro, and how effective is the software included compared to a normal version of Traktor Pro2. Also, any idea on if there are any used ones floating around, any discount would be appreciated by a college freshmen

You just need a usb cable to plug it in, it comes with the unit I believe but you can find them anywhere. some RCAs to wire them up to your speakers would also be helpful!

The software included is the full version of Traktor Pro 2.

As for used ones... I don't know. It's only just come out hasn't it? I doubt there is much of a second hand market yet.

true on the used market, just thought i would ask. i most likely will wait and buy it new. most likely from this specific site, it comes with golden's specific mapping of what he uses for his s2 promo vid, which is awesome.

I'm sure any DJTT mappings will be readily available to everyone, wherever they bought their unit from.

Either way, it's cool to support the site!
