Man RC cars have changed since I used to race...

I stopped when brushless was still very DIY and was racing with airplane motors and shit in the nitro classes. Now you can get an out of the box 100mph car? what.

The RC equivalent of digital vs vinyl was electric vs nitro. I guess electric is more accepted now for speed.

I also used to race R/C cars. From the mid 80s to the late 90s, I used to race off-road cars. I started from a Tamiya Subaru Brat, then converted it into a Tamiya Frog because it shared the same chassis. Then switched to Tamiya Astute and then bought an FF-01 Tamiya Renault CLio that I eventually converted to FRP chassis and on-road. I stopped racing from 1998 then resumed to that hobby in 2004 when I first seriously raced on-road EP. My car was an HPI Pro4 that I heavily modified. But I switched to another hobby in 2007 and have sold almost all my R/C stuff since then.

I miss the hobby but the expenses were killing me. Never ending expenditures. Hahaha!

EP & GP is very much different analogy from DJing. Both have very similar skills technique in driving but only different types of fuel to propel. Electric has always been more popular than gas powered RC cars.

Well when I was racing with brushless when it was first making an appearance in 2001-2002 and I got a little shit for it. I was running a brushless supermax e-maxx and racing in the maxx class with a bunch of nitro guys who saw it almost as cheating and an unfair advantage. They were fine with people racing e-maxxs with them until people started using brushless motors.

There was definitely some elitism from either side in the other electric and nitro off road classes which kind of reminded me of the divide in DJing.

Well, that's what I thought at first, but it seems this baby can actually reach the real 'grown-up' 100mph.

But considering that it has a total of 10Ah LiPo battery power, a 1650 Kv brushless motor, a drive ratio of 9.36, and a total weight of 4.6kg (3.9 without batteries), only to mention the basics, I can totally believe it.

Certainly beats my days of DIY 2-stroke glow-plug engines!

the aerodynamics design on it must have been a bitch. Getting something of that size and weight from going airborn at those speeds isnt easy.
