    Default S2 versus Twitch

Hi guys, after some advice/tips/review etc.

at the moment I use a numark omnicontrol with a launchpad (instant gratification mapping) with TP2. For various reasons I am starting get really annoyed with the Omnicontrol so want to upgrade.

my choice is either the S2 or a Twitch. I like the S2 as I am used to using TP2 but on the flip side I dont use jogs and I like the innovative nature of the twitch. I have read a few bad things about the twitch (low output volume and cheap feeling knobs/slider) but the twitch is circa £100 less than the S2. I know you can use the Twitch with TP2 as it comes with the overlay but I am interested to here peoples thoughts on Itch, will it be a big difference moving over to it if I wanted to?

apologies if this is all answered in other threads and i did try searching but I could only really fin half answers.

I like Itch a lot actually. Twitch is my first experience with Itch and I must say, it's pretty great. It's not flexible at all in terms of customization like Traktor is nor is it anywhere comparable in the FX department but for looping and mixing, it's superb. I really like the beat grid analyzing engine as it's pretty darn accurate compared to Traktor. I'm not sure how it compares with other Itch controllers but with Twitch, it's pretty perfect in terms of what I consider to be the main components of modern digital mixing (heavy emphasis on hot cues and loops). It's also beginning to achieve parity with Scratch Live as well. The new sample decks are great too, I know how access to more sample slots than I really would ever need (there's 4 banks, 2 per channel, 6 samples per bank, a total of 24 samples at your disposal).

The only thing I feel that is missing is the Bridge integration with Itch so that I can have tight integration with Ableton. For now I have Ableton running in the background and controlling that via an iPad with TouchAble.

All in all, I find Twitch + Itch to be superb and definitely changes how one approaches mixing (because you have such easy access to loops and on the fly perfectly beat gridded slices, you tend to play around with them more, if you're familiar with Dicer, it's kind of like how Dicer helped pushed traditional 2 decks and a mixer DJs to experiment more because they now have unobtrusive button controls right on their decks to control the software).
