    Default Considering an S2

    Hi all,

I've just invested in Serato SL3 and a pair of dicers to go with my CDJ 400's and DJM 800.

It is bulky and even when choosing Serato I thought it might be nice to have both.

With the price drop on the S2 I am considering it because it is small, so would be easy to carry around just to mess about with and I believe it comes with the full Traktor programme.

Can the S2 make use of all that Traktor has to offer (apart from using 4 decks)?

Would I be missing out on anything (apart from 4 decks)?

Any advice and user experiences would be gratefully received

the s2 can use everything in traktor, including 4 decks. There are a few maps (click in my sig) you can add to gain control over everything.

As standard the filter is on a clicky nob, which nobody likes, but thats easily fixed.
For its current price Id definitely say to get one

I love my s2 and everyone i know with one feels pretty much the same

I'm also considering the same move. Thinking that it might be in my best interests to give Traktor a go-around this route rather than investing in a timecode solution. If all systems are go it might be time to ditch SSL.

I'm getting the S2 tomorrow and can not be more excited. It has everything you need in an excellent looking package and an unbeatable price. I mean come on, how often do you really use 4 decks?..

If your answer was a lot, then get the S4. But if your like 80% of the DJ world the S2 will be more than enough.

Plus like Jiggle said the S2 can be mapped to do everything the S4 can. The only other reason I can think to get the S4 is if you wanna plug your CDJs or vinyl into it, that way you can have $400-$2000 jogwheels that look really cool...

i think the S2 is well worth the money. however imho "club standard" will not be any type of controller or even timecode, but simply cdj2000 with sd card / usb stick with all the tunes gridded up on rekordbox. the bigger / showier (is that a word?) djs will still use a variety of tools for remixing on the fly etc, but any dj should now be able to show up at a half-decent club and plug his sd cards into the clubs cdj2000s and of ya go...
keepin' it real since 1999... DJAdamDaniel.co.uk
