    Default Speakers and Strobe

    Hello,

I am wanting to know solutions of upgrades. I run a Traktor S4 with a Macbook Pro 15", as i am starting to get my name out there more in my region, i am starting to see that i need better speakers. I am using some Carrilon studio speakers, in some places they work perfectly but the downside is, they overheat to easily and can't really deliver in larger venues.

My question is what sort of speakers would be suitable for house parties, out door parties, etc? I'm not meaning wedding and other things like that…. Would 12" be acceptable or upgrade or downgrade to 10" or 15"? And their Wattage? What brand? And would it be possible to buy a strobe to connect with the speakers to " Beat sync" Flash on the beats?I mainly preform for crowds of 20-100 people.

Current speakers I'm looking at are:
    Wharfdale Titan 12 12D
    Mackie Thump 12A
    Behringer B121D

I use a pa system, and if I could afford to I would switch to a powered speaker setup. fifteen inch speakers give enough volume and frequency range, and most powered eighteens come with built in crossover units. for crowds of twenty to one hundred people i would go with two fifteen inch speakers and an eighteen inch speaker. you would have to push the fifteens for volume but I think it would do.

What's your budget and what type of music do you work with?

Um $700-1500, Run a lot of electronic music, with the occasional other genres song thrown in.

If you've got an extra $100, 2 QSC K12's will go a long way.

Edit: Personally, when I DJ with just myself, I use 2 Alto TS115 15 in. powered speakers. They're loud and the sound is crisp, good bang for your buck. When I DJ larger venues, with my partner, we chain 4 alto's together.
