Looking for controllerism gear
Hey guys!
I'm looking into stuff that will allow me some controllerism goodness. I currently have a Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 with Traktor Pro and the occasional Cross DJ (I really don't like Serato). I'm not that experienced yet (I can somewhat beatmatch manually), but thinking about these things gives me a roadmap for what I want to achieve eventually and I don't plan to do any of this within the next few months. I'm also not scared of making my own maps, I've altered many things on my Mixtrack mapping.
Here's what I currently miss in my setup:
-Proper remix deck control (effects, volume, etc). The Mixtrack has sample pads, but they don't work that well. Gate and latch does nothing, quantize only makes things worse. Does anybody have any info on this in order to make it work? All options and settings have to be set via keyboard and mouse, but I think I can get over that with proper preperation of remix sets.
-More effect options. I currently use a couple of macro's, but there's not much control in those.
-Designated filter knobs would be nice. They currently use up two of the six effects I have, although I can live without it.
-Velocity sensitive keys. It would be nice, but I don't think they're a must have. Feel free to convince me otherwise
-Ableton/Traktor combination? Haven't really looked into that yet, although I do know it's possible with the Traktor midi clock.
The whole set will have to fit inside a large backpack.
I did my homework and figured out some options.
- Kontrol F1. Obvious
Although no velocity sensive pads.
- Kontrol F1+X1 MK2. Gives me more options on the effects side. Again, no velocity sensitive pads.
- Maschine Mikro Mk2. Velocity sensitive pads, less control than above combo. Bulky
- Korg padkontrol bk. Velocity sensitive pads, cheap, not many good stories on the net. Bulky
- Novation Launchpad S/mini. Cheap, but no velocity sensitive pads or knobs.
- Reloop keypad. Cheap, velocity sensitive pads, lots of knobs, but I don't like the 'piano' keys that are too small to be of proper use. Bulky
Thanks for reading my rather long post.
Any tips, suggestions or experiences with mentioned or comparable gear are welcome.
