Default Traktor Pro 2 with Ableton

I do have 2 question that I was not able to find elsewhere.

    1. If I were to sync Traktor Pro 2 and Ableton Live 9 would I be able to use Traktor internal mixer mode or must I use Traktor in external mixer mode?

2.I am planning to use loops, midi messages and effects on Ableton while Traktor would run full tracks. To run effects in Ableton I have to route audio from Traktor to Ableton in-addition to syncing? Correct me if I am wrong on this one.

Thank you very much in advance for the help..

Hello and welcome to the forum.

First essential question here is are you on a mac or on a pc...because if you're on a pc (ie windows 7), you won't get a stable midi clock, it will fluctuate rending any centered rhythmic effects (ie, beatmasher, beatrepeater and the likes) unusable (really not satisfactory). You'll get difficulties getting all tight together.

As for the rest , what's your hardware if you want a more precise answer?

1/ both are possible but internal mixing presents some limitations
2/ yes of course if you mean effects on traktor's tracks.

    Meanwhile, here 's some documentation:

    http://www.traktorbible.com/en/t2_maschine_ta10.aspx
You could use innerclock if you have some cash ^^

Depending on your needs, an alternative to all this could be to use Deckadance 2 (as it comes also as a vst for ableton), if you're not strictly attached to traktor (not that deckadance is at the same level as traktor but it's still a very valid option if you're more an ableton user rather than a traktor one).

    Good luck.

    Latest mix

There’s also an almost hermetic community that exists in many areas of dance music, where serious hobbyists feed off each other’s expertise but barely connect to the industry – despite many of those involved actually working in it.

Thank you for help. I am on PC. I will take a look at Deck Dance 2.

I will like to play my full tracks and add on effects, loops on top of it on Ableton. My tracks are traditional music with electronic, it will be a nightmare to warp. I tried warping 50 tracks, however I feel I am losing out that feeling (Ableton too rigid).

Note: deckadance latest update has been released and it includes a "deckadance mini" vst which is a single deck so you can have one "dj" deck per ableton's audio channel, that's very interesting.

Yikes!!! That would be perfect. Running a track and playing loops above it in Ableton. A dream setup (Check out KiNk). How's the stability of deckadance? It would be shame if it crash mid-set, hence I did not want to route audio from Traktor to Ableton via jackaudio. Btw, I am running on a windows laptop

    Extremely interesting...
A game changer if it works. I'd be more concerned about the stability issues.
It seems to be what "The Bridge" was SUPPOSED to be.

Free trial = worth checking out.

If Deckadance Mini can give me multiple midi controllable cue points (missing from Ableton), DVS control (missing from Ableton) and some kind of detailed browser (missing from Ableton) I'll be over joyed.

From a quick look - it like like it DOES offer all of these things... I wish I had more time to investigate.
